What's Psyduck's Deal?

I just noticed this morning that Psyduck looks a lot like a duck caught in that "The Scream" painting by Edvard Munch. And I may be mistaken, but Farfetch'd reminds me (particularly his eye and the way he holds that scallion) of those old samurai drawings that I could swear I've seen before, but I can't remember when or where.
