Spare Bedroom.....Guest Bedroom....

Do you have a spare bedroom or a guest bedroom in your home? If so, what do you have in that room? If there is a bed in the room, what size bed is it? I'm asking because we have a spare bedroom that we want to make into a guest bedroom since we will be having some relatives visit this summer. My son took over my daughters old room which has a full size bed. So the spare room has his twin size bed in it. We just bought it last summer so I hate to get rid of it, but my husband said we should have a full size bed in that room. He's probably right! I guess we could sell the twin bed at a yard sale??

I have a spare bedroom. It is the room my daughter lived in when she was still living here. It has a bed for one person, naturally. But I got a nice new mattrace tucked away under the bed that I can pull out if I really have two visitors who stay at my place to sleep. This does not happen often. There is a nice big quilt thrown over the bed, nobody sees my spare mattrace. The room is small, so this system helps a lot, there is no space for a permanent double bed.

What a great idea. Thanks for the tip.

LOL - my spare bedroom has eight litterboxes, a six-foot tall cat condo, and a big chest of drawers that we've converted to a kitty jungle jim. We work cat rescue, so we have special needs. Our guests have an Aerobed, which they can set up in the livingroom or in our room, which is pretty big. The original Aerobeds from the 90's sucked, couldn't hold air, but our new one is much better. Of course, I still had to ask my 350 lb brother not to pump the bed up to the max for fear he'll pop it!

Our spare room is a big bedroom, with its own bath. This is the bathroom that all others who come to our home use. {I am very picky about only hubby and me using 'my' bathroom} The room has a queen sized bed, that is because when we found ours we got the second for almost nothing and the bed linens are all interchangeable. We do use the room to store a whole variety of items we don't want to get rid of, and no overnight guest has ever complained.

We have a apre bedroom. We have quite a few people come stay with us during the year as my partner is from another part of the country. We have a sofa that doubles as a bed. It has a very good matress - one could really use it for an every day bed. it is only 140cm wide.it is big enugh for two adults. Not having a larger bed makes it possible to also have a matress or two on the floor or a childs bed in there. i guess you should think about what you need. We often have ypoung families of four come and stay. If we had a full size bed it would be hard to fit four people in there. Having a sofa bed makes the room more usable for us when we do not have guests. It is a good place to read or listen to music if there are people watrching tv in the livingroom

Depending on the size of the room, you could actually get a futon or sofa bed as well. Keeping the twin if needed. Make it into a "daybed" and make the room look like a sitting room when not in use. If not, you could keep the mattress at least and but a "trundle bed" that has a bed under neath that pops up and sits next to the twin bed to make it "full size" While not in use the trundle bed looks like a daybed which can double as "sofa" sitting. I used to have a trundle bed and they come in very handy. They can be put together as a full size, use only the top as a twin, or use both twins separately.

We dont have a spare bedroom, but if we did I think a full size bed would be the best option. Usually your company arrives in pairs. I also assume your daughter will use that room when she visits. When we have company we plug in our camper and let them use it. My daughter and her family call it the mobile motel. It works out great for us.

yes, i do have a spare guest room in my house and it is only used once a year when my parents come to visit me... and i put 2 single beds there... when nobody is sleeping there like now, it becomes kind of a 'store room' because my apartment is quite small and we don't have enough space to store our stuffs which keep on increasing as time goes by...

We have a guest room at my house but because we dont have guests much it is just full of boxes of stuff we dont use much. There is a bed, a chair, and a dresser in it, but they cant be used because of all the stuff in there. Sometimes it gets cleaned but then we put more stuff in and the room is never useable for a long time.

Well I have a bed and my computer in the spare bedroom. I was thinking of taking the bed out and putting some furniture. Because the bed in there is just not comfortable at all.LOL And I think if I put a small couch in there I would have more room.

You could also keep the bed too if you have somewhere to store it. We have a guest room too right now 'cause we don't have any kids. If we did we wouldn't have the space for one. We do have a full size bed in there that our mother-in-law gave us. It's also full of junk at the moment. We haven't taken our Christmas decorations out to our building yet and it's got all our yard sale stuff in it too. My hubby told me today we need to tackle that room next weekend and get it cleaned up. Our nieces and nephews though won't sleep in there when they come over. They think it's a bit creepy feeling. My sister has slept in it a couple of times though.

We do live in a 3 bedroom house right now (we only have one child), but we don't have the 3rd bedroom set up as a guest room. We use it for our computers and some storage. Our basement is partially finished, and we have a full size bed and a chest of drawers down there that people can use if they stay with us. We are getting ready to move sometime this summer, though. We are putting a bid in on a house on Tuesday. It's only got 2 bedrooms, but the basement is completely finished. It has a bathroom and the laundry room and pantry down there, but the rest of it is open. We are converting it to our living room, and sometime within the next couple of years, putting up a wall and making another bedroom down there, too. We're going to be using the living room as our bedroom, because the smaller of the two bedrooms has a door to the outside in it, so we can't put our toddler in there, and it's not big enough for our queen sized bed. We are probably only going to put the twin bed out of my son's room in there, and buy him a toddler bed for now. If we put the double bed in there, there wouldn't be much extra room. So the double bed will be down in the basement against the wall most of the time probably, but it can be set up when our family comes up.

A guest room should at minimum have a full size bed. You can sell the twin bed at a sale or listed in the paper with little problem. Full size beds are not much more expensive than a twin bed and there are often sales to pick one up at a great price. The guest room should be minimally furnished (too much clutter makes it difficult for the guest). A full size bed and a dresser - a few pictures - can make a very comfortable room!

I have a guest room with two twin size beds in it. The room is actually large, almost the same size as the main room. The difference is that the wardrobes take part of the space. Sure there is a old set top box in it, because there were nowhere to put it. In Europe is very common to have depot that buys and sells second-handed articles, if you got any of those around you it could be the best option.
