When you have a sore thoat, what do you do ? Take medication ? Do you suck on things, like lozengers ? Is there a home remedy that you use ? Whats the best thing that you have found that works ?

I normally just drink lots of water and make some honey for myself perhaps. I will also get lozenges and eat them continuously. Never an easy time with a sore throat. :P

When I have sore throat, I take strepsils candies, somewhat relieving. Sometimes I take tea with lemmon. I also gargle warm water with salt if the sore throat become irritating.

I find a tea with lemon and honey will help to ease a sore throat. Also just drinking a lot of fluid will ease the pain. Or even just sucking on candies will help because it gets the saliva moving in and around and helps to soothe the throat.

I have had plenty of experience with sore throat, ranging from unbearable pain accompanied by fever to a perennial cough[whooping cough like-a sing song cough]which will stay lovingly with me for more than two months and stubbornly refuse to respond to medicines . I was ordered voice rest once and spent more than 15 days doing DUMB SHERADS at home till when by the end of the 15th day my son and husband got so proficient with sign language that speech as a mode of communication could even be dropped. Cutting the story short, I fought the horrible thing with salt water gargling, and drinking only hot water and hot fluids. I had to take anti allergy for a very long time. But, you will not believe it-this wonderful sore throat that acted smart with me was challenged by our local doctor who I have renamed as a magician.I recently relocated to Mumbai, and visited this doctor. He does not prescribe medicines on a paper, but gives us appropriate tablets-that I jokingly remark as eastman colour tablets. He cooly gave me a dose of 6 white and red striped tablets, 6 blue coloured ones[the names I could not ask him]and followed it up with one set of green tablets. He asserted that there won't be any need for a return visit. I honestly did not believe it because it had never happened once in the past 8 years during which my sore throat used to go on and on and after digging a hole in my pocket would reluctantly leave me with a promise of an early return visit. Now this magician of a doctor, a seventy year old, practical genius could locate the problem without 1 accompanying test . One thing that I have found is that sucking lozenges does not suit my system and I combat it with aniseed water, and cummins seed water, pepper rasam and saline water gargling.

I suck on a lozenge. If it's really bad I use the anaesthetising ones. They are GOOD! I also give my mouth an extra go with mouthwash, making sure to gargle.

Gargle with warm salt water is good to cure a sore throat - although it does not do much for the taste buds *bleh* I prefer to suck on a sucrets lozenges but that only helps for the moment that it is in my mouth. Another thing is something like chloroseptic spray which numbs the area - but my tongue gets in the way and it gets numb instead, hehe.

Everytime I have a sore throat I run to the store and get lozenges called Strepsils, they work like a dream! They have a bit of anesthetic so it numbs your throat, and they also have antibacterials in them to help get rid of ickies. PurpleTeddyBear.

Hello, calais, when you have sore thorat, the most imporant thing is to drink more water,i also have one method that can cure sore throat quickly, that is to put some salt into hot water and let it melt, use the salt mixture to gargle your mouth and throat three times a day,I think you will be able to recover in few days. Hope it works.

I always suck on lozenges. There's this really good one that works well on me, unfortunately, I forgot the name. Strepsils doesn't really work for me and when I have a sore throat, it's usually followed by a fever. Why don't you ask your local pharmacists for the most effective lozenges, the ones I use were also suggested by the pharmacist.

My mom has a home remedy. She squeezes the lemon juice out and add a pinch of salt in the lemon juice, then we need to drink it directly. To be honest, it tastes really awful but it works on me.

I have a load of remedies that you are going to like! Salty Pringles is my first choice. Ice Lollies/Ice Pops/Popsicles are another good choice. If I'm desperate, I might go for the hot water with lemon and honey. But that's only if the Pringles don't work.

Uhm, drink lots of water. Water will help on the healing process of your sore throat. Water will also be a supplement of the minerals (tap water has minerals) you supposed to have if you had appetite. ;D
