Better to give or receive gifts and presents?

Do you like receiving a gift or giving a gift? - do you get more happiness from giving a gift or receiving one?

Everyone loves it on their birthday or christmas when they are opening their gifts and presents, i love receiving gifts because its a great feeling but i also dont like to see people not receiving presents as well. What do you prefer? Do you get more satisfaction giving a present or receiving a present?

Well, giving presents is very annoying to me sometimes, because of my perfectionist nature, it takes me a long time to choose the "perfect" gift for someone. I do research, I ask and look everywhere. And gets really annoying. But then seeing their smiles when receiving the gift is as rewarding as it gets. So, I guess I prefer giving.

Im similar to you with making sure i get the right gift, although most times i fail and just end up getting my sister to get it for me or just giving money, boring but true. Thanks for your response.

Heh, I understand you. Anyway, the problem gets with the money too, as they're not always available. So I have to get as creative as possible. I once was so broke, and there was one of my friends birthday, so I wrote her a poem. She loved it. Then after a few days I sent her a teddy bear too :D

I love to give and i dont expect anything in return its just my nature dont expect anything then you cant be disappointed but to give shows you care and love someone even if its just a card.

May be the usual answer is: i like to give because of the sense of giving, it`s so great, it helps me to feel that i am a good person and etc. I like to receive.May be because in fact i dont get so much presents:-(

It is nice to recieve but I think it good to give. I like to give if I am able it may only be something I have written but hey I think gifts that come from the heart are the best.

I think I prefer gift giving. I like the challenge of find just the right gift that fits the persons' likes, interests, hobbies, collections, or personalities. Plus I like shopping for the unusual gift that fits into the above prerequisites.

I think giving is by far better and more gratifying. Recently my sister in law and sister had birthdays. I bought little napkins at the dollar store and stamped their initals on them with another little stamp to decorate the front of the napkins. I also bought little paper doillies and in the center stamped a heart for one, and a teapot for another. I included a few other little things in a basket for each. When they saw the napkins that had been personalized for them they both just flipped. They loved them. So little brought so much fun and joy...Giving is the best.

I think what you have proven is that the best gifts are not always the most expensive and personal gifts are greatly appreciated by the receiver. Thank you for your response.
