I hate the color!

My kitchen is yellow, and I am sick of looking at it. I have lovely oak cabinets and woodwork, and these ugly yellow walls. I want to paint it a different color, but I can't decide.
Or maybe I should go with wallpaper.
I was thinking of painting it blue, but I am afraid it will be too dark and dreary.
Any suggestions?

I personally like the yellow. But I would put olive green curtains in.This will tone it down. Also change your place mats, towels, canisters etc.to this.Maybe even a green rug by your sink. This would look so nice with some live plants.Or you could put some fake ivy or plants on top of your cabinets. This will mellow some of the yellow tones out.Don't go with wallpaper. You will get tired of it and it is hard to get off.

The curtains are definately going, they were left here by the previous owners, I just haven't found anything I like. This pic was taken before we moved in, so now I have my salt and pepper collection lining the top of the cabinets. But I just really don't like the yellow, it's not my favorite color at all.
But thanks for the suggestions.

I like yellow, but I understand after seeing it day after day after day, you want a change. I think that if you go with wallpaper you may regret it later, because when you have to or want to remove wallpaper, I think it is a pain in the butt. From what I can tell, your cabinets look like they are rather dark, so I don't think I would use a dark color of paint, such as blue, but then again I guess it depends on what color of blue you are wanting. Personally I think that a nice springy green color would look nice with the color of your cabinets. I can't think of the color name, but a light fresh green would be nice and comforting, I believe. Okay, I went to the sherwin-williams website and found the color called green vibes. The numbers for it are 6928. If you would like to check it out the website address is www.sherwin-williams.com I really like that color. Good luck and let me know if you pick green or another color. Take care

I think it's just too much yellow, the other two walls that you can't see don't have cabinets and it's just all yellow. I liked it at first, but after a year, I am just tired of it. I do want to put tile under the cabinets on the wall, I think it would break it up and give it a nice backsplash.
I will check out the website you suggested. Thanks.

It is not easy to give suggestions, we are all different. I think a cream colour would be beautiful, like vanilla icecream, it is easy to match with other colours in curtains and so on. It could be a good idea to keep the walls neutral or you will soon get tired of the colour.
Then you can experiment with what colours you like and change curtains and other things when you wish.
Well, that was one suggestion, I hope you find out what is best in your case.

your cabinets are gorgeous! such a nice kitchen. But, even though I am fond of yellow I would say that that shade just dulls the room. a nice rich color would enhance it greatly! the pastel yellow along with the border makes it seem more like a baby nursery.
PS I also love your flooring...but it again does not seem to work with the yellow walls.

LOL I love yellow. My kitchen is yellow! I am thinking of painting my back hall a darker color because all the dirty little hands before they make it to the bathroom to wash up.
