It is sad to hear that a fire is threatening such a beautiful place. I visited there when I was about thirteen years old. At the time, I was living with my former uncle and his new wife. His two sons, and my two sisters came along and a foster sister was there too. More than anything else, I remember getting sea sick. There are not very many over all sick feelings that are worse than this, when you are a child. I felt like I was going to die. When we got there, everything was just so beautiful. The shops, the hotels and the restaurants were all very nice. I remember we ate at one place where they served all different kinds of pancakes. I had blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup. I remember though that my older sister had peanut butter pancakes. At the time, that was so weird to me, I had never heard of such a thing. I think I remember her saying how good they were. I am not much of a peanut butter fan when it comes to adding it to things. On the way back, everything went well. If I remember correctly, this time, we traveled on the inside. However, my next experience with Catalina Island was not so pleasant. I did not actually go there, but this is a day that I will never forget. I was living with my older sister at the time and her husband was not being faithful and or living in the house for that matter. Anyway, she got a letter in the mail from one of the hotels at Catalina Island stating that she was being charged becasue there was smoking in the bedroom. Apparently, her husband had used are bank card to pay for a trip to Catalina Island with another woman. I have never in my life seen my sister this angry before. When he drove up in his jeep, she confronted him about it and then picked up a trash can and threw the trash on him, while he was still in his car. Then, she stormed into the house and picked up one of the kids scooters and threw it outside, right passed my head. Needless to say, I got my butt out of the way, from that point on. The fight went on and eventually, my other sister came to pick me up for a picnic. Even though, I did not want to leave my sister, I was glad to be getting away from the madness. When I got back, everything had calmed down. Thank God.
