Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder wherein the person has distorted body image. The person thinks he/she is thick (or in some instances perceives that he/she is extremely fat) whereinin fact he/she is thin or extremely thin already. This people are usually high achievers but because of our present society they tend to do self-imposed dieting only to be liked by the society. This mind set tends to present more problems to the anorexic person than it does good. Family should be the first support group to that person. Friends could also help. Let it be reminded to the support people that they have to first understand and accept the person. When you have successfully done this you will be more able to help that person. There should be PATIENCE as the change process could take a while. Be CONSISTENT with your actions and most importantly show the person that you LOVE them so as to help the person understand that they are wrong with how they perceive themselves (that tehy are fat). They will eventally realize that what you do for them is for their best because tehy know that you LOVE them.

I majorly SUFFER from anorexia nervosa, and it is pure torure and an extreme struggle every day just to get going and do my schoolwork, Hell(meals), exercise, and more. The adoptive family that takes care of me is extremely loving, and it rips me in a million bits that I am completely unable to beat this S.O.B. in my head for them as a "Thank You" for all love and care they give me. We are constantly looking for help that does not cost anything, as we have no money... but we have not found anything yet. I welcome suggestions. Thanks jo_chidim for the super understanding.**hugs**
