I'm rather diverse in tastes..I love Ancient Egyptian art, Ancient Greek, I also love Medieval, Renaissance, particularly Northern Renaissance artists like ver Meer, Celtic art, and love the Hudson River valley painters...yikes those guys would paint every single leaf on a tree; I also love some modern art...like Renoir, Monet, Seurat, Dail, Degas.....I even love certain Native American styles, especially the Northwestern area like the Kwakiutl
So what period or style of art do you love?

I dont really think theres a period I like over others, but the 2 things I like the most are contemporary abstract, and indigineous art. I like indigenous art because the processes are so old and traditional i think its a cool way to keep the things you learnt from your elders and still make beautiful pieces of work.

Oh I'm an Impressionist girl myself.......... Manet, Monet, and Renoir. I am not at all an artisitcally talented person myself, but I love the soft, romantic feel to them. I also love some of the old Russian art you see mainly today in the old Icon painting.

One of the reasons the Impressionist period began was in a way due to the "invention" of photography...artists felt that they needed a new approach to painting..since photography "captured" reality so well, there wasn't a need to paint realistically anymore....don't remember who was the first to start the style though..

Well I love the Renaissance. That has to be my absolute favorite. I like images that I can tell what is going on. I don not like impressionism. I also like some modern artists like Jonathan Earl Bowser. His goddess art is fantastic. http://www.jonathonart.com/intro.html
I was looking at the picture you posted are you sure it's Monet? I found one just like it at Thomas Kinkade's site: http://www.piersidegallery.com/artists/kinkade/ it's down at the bottom and links the entrance to the rest of the site.

I love art of Renaissance period as they were just marvelous and an indicator of infinite limits of human imagination and creativity. They showed to explore ourselves along with the nature.

I don't possessed a good artistic ability at looking at some arts. But I have recently started browsing the net for some good oil canvass painting of fairies in different shapes and sizes. They are modern and really beautiful. I plan to purchase my first one in the next few days. They are the picture of child fairies and I love it.

Brian Froud is probably the one who started the popularity of fairies art with his book "Good Fairies, Bad Fairies"

I love orient landscapes. I felt a deep affinity for them the very first time I ever saw one. I still love the style & wish I could paint like that. I love water colors, I find them so facinating. If you see someone standing nose up to a water color - it might be me looking at the technique.

I also have very diverse tastes artistically. As an archaeologist I suppose I'm drawn to some of the very ancient stuff far more than the modern art, I love palaeolithic artwoks such as the Venus figurines and some of the mammoth ivory carvings are exquisite. I also love Iron Age metalwork forms, especially the enamelwork, and I love Renaissance paintings too.

I don't know if it is a period, but I love American western from the 1800's. I don't know art that well, but I think I would like the Native American styles quite well. I need to look into different types of art. I just might want to do some decorating if I can build a new home.

It's easier for me to talk about individual painters than whole period of art.
So my favourite painter is Picasso. I love to watch his art, and also his biography is very interesting for me. His painting is wonderful, my sense of aesthetics covers with his paintings.
I like also Goya, Bruno Schulz ( he is more known as a writer). But I like to visit museum and watch various exhibitions.

I love the Impressionists. I got to see a display of many Monet paintings when I was visiting Dallas. They had three sets of painting of the same subject at different times of day. This was how he would study the different light on a scene. They had borrowed these paintings from museums all over the world to do the show. To see the same subject painted four or five different times a day was incredible!

though my all time favorite is albrecht durer.
i love his woodcuts-he put such detail into each work he did.raphael is a second fave.
some of those egg tempera paintings got such a translucent glowing quality you just can't reproduce with oil paint.

i think there may be a few specialty artists who do-
i would guess it would depend on finding the mineral pigments to mix with it.
i've been debating toying with it myself, just for a change :)

I don't have a favorite style or artist. My tastes are ecclectic and if I like something then I like it not because of who did it or the style. I am particularly fond of that which is unusual and one such unusual thing can be fund at www.sandfantasy.com This woman is incredible and i really like watching this.

I really love no particular era of art. I like all kinds from various periods right up until today. I love Rembrandt, Monet and Renoir, but I also like modern artists like Jackson Pollack. Right now one of my favorite artists is Thomas Kinkade and my dream is to one day own a piece of his artwork.

I took an Ancient Art History course when at University and frankly I have never been able to get into it the way some of my peers did. It just doesn't do it for me. If I had to pick I wopuld probably go with cave art from Lascaux and that sort of thing. I find the fact that those people made the art in the first place, and the wondering of what it all meant to them, to be very interesting.

A lot of the cave art was representational to the cave men...if they wanted a successful hunt they would paint a "hunting" scene ...it had a lot to do with their 'magical" beliefs

My tastes in art range both in periods and styles very much. My all time favorite is M.C. Escher, but a close runner up is Sabrina Ward Harrison. AS you can see just from the names alone, there's a huge difference in both time period and style of art. I have to go with what strikes me the most. I write profiles for current artists on a weekly basis and have really come to love the "outside art" I've been coming across, but the classics (Monet, etc.) really stick with me.
