A LOT of people, specially fresh graduates are really trying their best to land a job in a call center company. Has/had anyone here work in a call center company? Do You love/Hate working as a call center agent? Are you well compensated?

My daughter was working in a call center before. No doubt they were paying her well. But the timings were horrible. Very early morning pick up and late night drops and the body metabolic system was too much affected. Further she was made to sit before the computer from morning till night. Because of this she developed severe back/shoulder pain. Then she quit the job and working for an Art Foundation wherein, the timings are good and she got job-satisfaction too. But the shoulder pain has become permanent for her. She says she hates working for a call center.

I hope she's ok now. I remember getting sick alot during my first few months working on night shifts. Its really hard to adjust when your health is at stake.

ideal maybe for some people, maybe because they like the compensation coz we all know the starting salary is way more higher than a regular job.and some become popular because of working in a call center...what i mean is that when someone asked you ...where you work? and you say in a call center...alot of people think that you're super cool or you must be really fluent to be able to pass all the interviews and whatsoever, anyways there's alot of up's and down's working in any company...but for me there's alot of down moment in a call center.

UPs.... *u get to meet friends and bond with them during trainings *u always start with 5-digit pay. *alot of benefits u can take advantage of (health, housing, dental insurances, etc). *buy the things u dream of, if u save half of ur salary. *coffee, frappe, starbucks before u go to work. *the HOLd or MutE ButtOn is your BEStfRiend. *u wont have to deal with traffic going to work. dOwNs.... -u get to be yelled at most of the time by iRatE callers. -you cant go malling with your friends coz u'd rather sleep. -even with 10hours sleep, still seems not enough. -eyebags. -u gain weight coz u eat at night and sit all the time.

if i were a fresh graduate, i will surely give it a try. there are others who find this job good enough. it gives good pay and one who stays for long gets a promotion. if one is aiming at being able to have some savings to start a small business within five years, then this is it. the commonplace jobs offer so small wages and being able to save out of the pay one gets is next to impossible.

Yeah. You sHould give it a try coz for starters, it'll help u save alot. Some of my friends got theyre cars from what they saved working in a call center. The benefits are also good, so buying your own dream house is never impossible.

I work in a call center now and I can't complain about the pay. I work at a call center for UPS and I've been there for about a year. It can be stressful dealing with customers but thats part of the job. All call centers aren't the same. Some are relaxed because all the agent has to do is help with technical things, or extend a contract. At UPS, customers are irate due to late packages and things like that. I guess ir really depends on what call center you work for. Either way, I like the relaxed enviroment of my department.

i totally agree. I've worked as a customer service rep for AMEX before. We get lots of irate callers too, complaining about interest rates and card balances....you really cant complain about the calls. What makes my day though is ONE GOOD CALL plus a commendation hehehe. :)

I think call center job is ideal for some. For those who loves talking to people and with lot of patience (not all are gifted with that traits). The irate people are part of the job. They say that there is no easy and likeable job unless you have the heart, the passion and interest to it. The erratic shift /schedule can be related to the work of a nurse or work in a factory, it can't be helped. I was told that the pay is okey as well. (im not in a call center company, i just heard it thru the vines)

Call center has a high starting salary, no wonder I know lots of people who are working in such industry. I have never tried to work as a call center representative. I don't have any time. I am a student and I think my scholarship can support my education so I don't think I'll be needing another job for myself. In my country there are lots of call center. Personally, I don't want to work there, most especially during the graveyard shift. I feel that there are lots of things happening there that shouldn't be happening. I also don't think that the call center job is an ideal job because it is not a permanent job. In China, they have introduced English in their curriculum. They are probably preparing themselves to be the new call center capital of the world. I also think they will succeed because the wage of the employees are lower compared to my country.

Honestly, I'm one of those rare few who loves my job! I love being on the phone and, I do sales, I love talking to people. I've experienced a lot of success at it and I don't think I want to do anything else.
