Hi all mylot friends i was rather really stumped at where to post this question. As i looked under technologies and there was noone there really who could answer this question. so i am hoping i get more resposnes by putting it under life. so here it goes. I am looking for a camcorder for under $400.00. I found one that records on a mini DVD. But my problem is neither my computer nor my boyfriends computer has a DVD burner/reader in it. So my question is what kind of camcorder can i get that we can use to download the videos to that will work? I am also not looking for one of those cheap $100.00 ones that you can buy at walgreens.

I have a digital camcorder and you can download it into your computer. It records on a mini tape and can be copied to VHS or DVD as well. I will include a link to a page that gives a lot of information about these types of cameras. I just went into Best Buy and they helped a lot. If you can get to a Best Buy, explain what you want and need, they can guide you right to it. I think I paid $300 plus taxes and it's a good one. Hope this helps some. http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/camcorders/camcorder-firsttime-buyer_guide.html#q2

We recently bought such a camcorder. Don't worry, you don't need a DVD burner/reader. You just connect the camera to the computer via USB and see all you recorded there (you can also copy the files wherever you want). Only be sure you ask someone exactly how to connect your camera to the computer because it was trickier than I thought it would be (in my case besides connecting it to the computer via the USB cable I also had to remove the battery and insert another cable there; however this probably varies from camera to camera).

I'm not sure how old your computer is but you can get an external DVD recorder to hook up to your computer to make DVDs from your recordings. I have a digital video camera that records on cards as well as mini DVD tapes. I can hook it directly up to my TV to use it to record a VHS tape or to my computer. I can also use my camera to record from a VHS tape to the recorder then download it to my computer then to burn this to DVD. In this way I can put all of my home videos on DVD.
