Do you get original games or do you get copies or used ones??

Well, we all know how expensive original games can get. And for gamers like me, well, I tend to finish a game, any game in less than a week, and I'm usually too broke to afford games that are well over 100$, especially if I'm gonna be done with them in three days. And I hate to say it, but most of the time I am forced to buy copies, from a game shop that sells them. I do try to get my hands on originals, once they are on sale, and the prices have considerably come down, as they get older. But by then, I've already played those games, but still I get them to keep them in my collection. Especially if it's a game I really like, then I try to wait until the price comes down, and then buy it, so I can replay it, or just so I can own an original copy. So, I try not to be a big part of piracy, I mean, you gotta admit, they are really expensive, the originals, and I make up for it by getting original copies later. So gamers, what's your opinions on these games? Do you get copies or do you spend big bucks on the originals?

No, I won't look down on you, I do get copies myself, which isn't any better, but I try to make up for it, by then getting the same games originals when the price comes really really down....

cant afford the original games just bought copies and they worked fine. Here in the philippines god of war II copies are already out and it cost like $2. So whats the main reason why I have to spend on expensice games when I can get one at a lesser price.

Yeah, I can't afford the originals either, so I get them when the price comes really down. I finished God of war 2 twice, how far along are you? It's such an awesome game..

Yeah, they are expensive, I wanted to get god of war, it was like 68$, so I had to go back to my game guy and get one for like 6$, but I loved the game so I'm waiting for the price to drop down, so I can get the original one as well, and play it again. I think it will be a long wait.

I don't get copies, but I have gone to stores that will resell used games, ebgames is big around here, you can buy the games new, or get used copies at reduced prices, though sometimes the reduced prices are only a couple of dollars, for instance my partner bought a game and got the used one, I said for 2 dollars more why not just get the new one? I usually just wait for the price of games to come down, I have spent money on only one game and even then it was on sale by pre ordering the game. I guess I don't play enough, to have to be concerned the games have usually been out long enough that I can find them on sale, so that the most I have paid has been under 20 dollars with one exception and then I paid less than 30. Lets hear it for sales, and stores that buy and sell used games.

Yeah, 20 dollars would be fine for me too. But 100 dollars is a little too much. Especially if I'm through with them in like 3 days. I do agree with what you said about spending that extra 2 dollars on getting the new one instead, it's not that big of a difference. I usually get the cheap ones, play them and finish the game, then when it's older and the price is affordable then I buy the original one too, and keep it as a part of my collection or play it again. So, I guess I do try to do my part in contributing the best way I can...

I usually get second hand games for my kids. I keep a close eye out at ebay and at Amazon, except now it is harder to ge electronic items from Amazon with ll of their new regulations. I am not going to say a thing about piracy!

Hmm...yeah, I guess that would be a good place to buy some interesting games, without having to spend too much money.

It would depend on what game it is. I tend to look at not just the price but also the quality of the game. I mean sure, I could read reviews on how the game was but I'd rather try it out 1st. Most of the time I do tend to get used games as long as they are in decent working condition and can play on my systems. The only game I actually got just around the time it came out was Twilight Princess. That's the only one I've actually done that with. I would say overall used games but once in a while a game that comes out right away.

Yeah, it does depend on the game, but I don't usually go for popular games and pick out unknown titles as well. Sometimes it turns out to be a great discovery, sometimes it really sucks, so I don't wanna take the risk of getting a 100$ game that I'd hate anyway.

For me it depends really...I do have a tendancy of getting games that are pre-owned (that way you can build up a collection of games for a LOT cheaper) unless it is a game that I have been after for ages and really want or if it an import-only game. Another good tip for cheaper games is check garage sales and charity shops...it's amazing the bargains you can get! The prices for games are way beyond the realms of stupidity sometimes, althoug the game I play on PC (The Sims 2) has semi-reasonable prices for the expansions and stuff. As for copies of games, without having a chipped PS2 or custom firmware for my PSP there is no way that I know of to use copied games, and as that voids warranty I refuse to do this...also, I'd rather have the original genuine copies, same with my CDs and DVDs.

Yeah, a garage sale is a pretty good idea, but there are hardly any here ever!!! It's just not that kind of place, people throw away their stuff mostly, instead of giving it away, or trying to sell it... I know, doesn't make sense. So unless I know whose garbage to raid, and when, I would never be able to get original used ones. Luckily my ps2 is multi-system so everything works on it. I too, enjoy my original versions of games or at least the ones I do manage to buy, when the prices drop... I'm really proud of that collection now.

First of ALL, ur avatar is funny. Coming to the responce of the discussion, As far as i know most of the games that are strict games are protected. Even if you copy the cd the game while installing doesn't continue on the other system. You'd be buying the games of that kind.

Hey Vega83, I tend to do the same thing that you do except that I don't support copied games. I do buy all games used now as they are brutally expensive. It can be frustrating to be left out on a triple A title when it is released because of cost. I just remember that it will be the same game when I go to pick it up in the future.

Well, yeah, at least you can get used originals and that's cool. I don't support copied games either, I'm not even sure if they are copies, well, the CDs have the whole details and the name of the game and platform and it says pal on the shiny side of the CD in the middle around the hole, just like on originals. I still haven't figured out how people can copy that too, I don't even know if what I get are downloaded copies or not....
