guys, help me out here. my classmate sent me this text message. it's actually a brain teaser and i hate analysis. my sister said that she got the answer to this teaser but she just can't explain it to me in a way that i can understand it. anyway here's how it goes:
you wanted to buy a $97 shirt but you didn't have the money so you asked your mom for $50 and your dad for $50 too. so you had $50 + $50= $100. You bought that shirt using the money that your parents lend you. and the cashier gave you your change which is $3 ($100 -$97= $3). Now you gave the dollar to your mom so that you now owe her $49 ($50-$1=$49). Same to your dad.. You now owe him $49. If you add the amount that you owe to your parents it'll be: $49 + $49= $98. Remember that from the $3 that was the change for the shirt that you bought, you gave $2 to both your parents. So you now have a dollar in hand ($3-$2=$1). If you add the total amount that you owe to your parents and the dollar that you have in hand, it'll be: $98 + $1=$99. Originally you had $100. The question now is, where is the missing dollar?
My sister told me that the calculation was wrong. Even if i studied accounting, i still can't figure this out. Please help me out here.

You dropped it on the sidewalk in your rush home to show everyone the shirt that you paid way to much money for. Some lucky kid found your dollar and spent it on candy.
