5. Why did you stop working for your last client?
6. How will you get to work each day?
7. Do you know cpr?
8. What days and times are you available?
You might also want to have them babysit a few times while you are there.

My first thing in an interview would be to ask about the applicants previous employment or experiences...try to get as much information about it and refernces coz there are some babysitters who arent performing well in their job and its your trust that you are giving them to take care of your child.

1. what would you do if the baby started choking?
2. What would you do if the baby keeps crying even after holding, burbing, changing and feeding her?
3. Will you go by my schedule for the baby?
4. Will you hold the baby all the time?
5. Will you provide food or shall i bring it?
6. How many other children will be there?
7. Who will mainly take care of the baby?(if more than one person is there, i had a problem with an old babysitter that way!)
8. how long have you been around and taken care of children?
9. Will you contact me if you have to go somewhere for an emergency?
I hope these are helpful. I know how hard it is to give your child to someone for a few hours.

Everytime I have had a sitter I make sure they are watched in my home (unless it's family of course). I ask about previous experience, with what age groups, do they have first aid/CPR training, and I ask for references. I usually have them babysit for an hour or two while I am at home, then it's while I go to the store, nothing where I would be gone for a long time until I know I am comfortable with them and vise versa. I also make a list of emergency numbers, and any "quirks" my kids have so they are informed. My middle daughter won't go to sleep unless her blanket is a certain way, and I make sure the sitter knows about it. Whatever it takes to make the situation go smoother.

Do you have any younger brothers or sisters that you babysit for? What are their ages?
Have you had experience taking care of other children? If so, how old were they and over what period of time (and/or how often) did you babysit for them?
Have you completed any babysitter training, first aid, or CPR courses?
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or other jobs?
What do you like best about babysitting and being with kids? What do you like least?
What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing with children?
Do you know what to do in case of an emergency?
What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while babysitting? How did you handle it?
How much do you charge and what hours are you available?
