What is the best way for you to earn money? A Job or a Business

Many people who say they want a business, just aren't prepared to do what it takes to make a business work. I think it comes down to, are you internally motivated? What motivates you in this way? Or do you need someone (a boss) to motivate you externally? Same question... what motivates you in this way?

The best way for you to earn money is getting engage into business, but the easier way between a job and business is having a job. Getting engage into business requires a lot of hard work, experience, fashion, broad knowledge in the business industry, connections, brilliant planning and capital. If those factors aren't present in you, you couldn't start a good business. The capital source is just the least requirement but the knowledge on the business industry you want to be with is essential, that is why there is a feasibility study prior to establishing the business so you may plan and see the possible weakness part of your business and have some prevention plan to it. But once you are successful into business, the return of your hardwork will be owesome!, unlike in having a job it depends on the nature of your work, depends on your boss, depends on the standing of the company you are working for, depends on your status in the company and lastly depends on your age, because there are companies who prefer younger than the old one.

You bring up a lot of good points. Thing is, a lot of people have overcome the very things that you suggest make it difficult. I think much more depends on you. Your beliefs, your willingness to learn, being open to new ideas, and creativity are more important factors than anything else.

This is a Good Topic, because there are many people out there that I feel that the only reason they are down on a Home Business is that they do not have what it takes as in time and knowledge to want to try and make it work. And not every Home Business is really for everyone, and what works for one, will not always work for others, that is why there are so many different types of Businesses out there that a person can do. My main problem is finding the people who will invest their time and knowledge, and be Trainable to learn how to make the $$ that can be possible to make in an Online Business venture. Yes, it is slower and less $$ than you can make with a regular job at first, but if you find things that work for you, and put enough time and effort in them, you will succeed in time, and make more than you can working for someone else. Most just tend to get complacent with what they are earning from someone else, so everything else they want to try fails because they did not get rich quick. Motivation is what comes from within. No matter what you are doing in life, you have to motivate yourself if you want to succeed in life. Just because someone is there watching and pushing you, that does not mean you will succeeed unless you want too. So in all, it is only your fault when you fail, as maybe you never tried?

Most folks just don't realize they can become the CEO of their own organization. Too many expect to start at the CEO position without investing the time and money to earn the position.

I don't think I could ever own a business because it is too risky. My neighbor owned a restaurant in town and it ended up going out of business a couple months ago. Now he delivers pizza for Dominoes. He went from being a business owner to a pizza delivery guy. I have heard of too many stories. Especially where I live, it would be difficult to open up a business. I prefer to just have a job. I do have a lot of respect though for the people who do own a business.

If that's what you think, you are exactly right. There are ways to start a business that involve little or no risk. You just have to be smart about the decisions you make.

I like the ability to just have a job. It keeps me happy and content. The thing is though, if you have a business, you also have a job, it is just that you're slightly higher up. Your job is to make sure profits are managed, and your business continues to run proficiently. Smells like business.

Yes you can run your business as a job. I think you can also run it as a lifestyle that gives you the freedom most job holders just don't have.

After 20+ years of public/military service I am exploring my options. One of which is experimenting with my blog and a few websites. Motivation isnt really a problem for me it is finding that niche. The truly successful business models fill niches in their target markets. Other than finding the proper business to go into I really don't mind working for someone else as long as they are appreciative.

I think that is a key point... experimenting. You get to use your creativity. Sure you will make some mistakes (learning opportunities). It's the challenge that keeps us going, isn't it?

Hi, TDonald. I have to say a own a business sometimes is much harder.Because you have to take on more resposibility, and nobody will assign you work to know. You have to know what should do and how should you do that. You need to know everything to develop you business, manage your staff, set up a goal, compete with others. But when you work for a boss, you'll know which field is you take charge in and be told what exactly you should be. So, that's the difference. Well, if I'd like to own a business myself, I'll go to a similar company as a staff first to gain more experience and learn from others. Then I have more confidence to do my business well.

I think that the skills needed to run a business are more generalized and global. You get to be creative. Employees have to specialize. That's what makes a lot of jobs boring. I believe a job is the riskier way to go because someone else is in control of your income.

In my opinion, the fact that someone is their own boss would ensure that they are more productive, as their lifestyle is totally dependent on how hard they work, the harder they work the more they get paid, where in job this isnt always the case.

I think you are right. I would add that the SMARTER you work, the more you get paid.

it's nice to have your own business but really you need a lot of energy. But I enjoy having my own business because I own my time and that motivates me to continue to do what I have started.

I don't think the best way to make more money is getting a job, but strongly believe that the best way to make money in this life and be a rich person is to get yourself involve in a business and investments. I my own case I will say am internally motivated without needing anyone to assist (am not say I can do everything alone). Thanks and have a nice day.

For most people I'd say that a job was the best way to earn money. A job gives you a steady income. You know what the payrate is. You can check out the company you want to work for to make sure it's a solid company that's going to be around awhile. If you get tired of the type of work you're doing you can move on to something else. Starting your own business, on the other hand, involves a bigger commitment. You usually have to invest a considerable amount of money. You have business costs. Instead of one boss to satisfy you have a myriad of customers. The failure rate of small businesses is high. You can end up working long hours for little profit. You can end up losing money. It takes a better-than-average expertise to get ahead in the small business world.
