Recently I had a discussion deleted because it contained a link to my Blog Site. I totally understand that. I have gone to the MyLot Rules and am reading "The Don'ts". I have seen these abuses many times the DON'Ts * * * Post comments in threads for the purpose of drawing attention to another thread on a different subject. (I have seen this done repeatedly) * Make multiple posts on the same subject for the purpose of getting attention paid to your issue. *(This is done frequently but I think it is honestly done due to slow computer systems and not because the responder meant to do so) * P * Respond to a discussion until you've read all of the responses. *(This is something that the new email delivery of discussions makes it difficult to do. The new method is great and simplifies going through all of the posts as it did in the past. I hope MyLot can figure out a way to change this rule). Post "Me Too!" messages; add something of substance to the conversation. (yes, me too) * Start a new discussion unless you have something of substance to say. (Jokes are funny to read but how does one reply to them with substance?) * * * Start meaningless discussions or give meaningless responses to try and boost your rating. Discussions like “What’s your age” will be deleted as well as short responses like “ok” or “no”. *(How many non-substantive discussions could a person count on one given day if that's all they had to do?) Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. *(How many of these could be counted on any given day?) Post any links promoting other affiliate programs or that do not pertain to the discussion. Posting the same link over and over or posting links that have no relevance to the discussion is not allowed. (THIS IS THE ONE THAT HAS MY PANTIES IN A TIGHT BUNCH!!! I HAVE HAD SOMEONE POST ONLY AN AFFILIATE POST TO A VERY SERIOUS DISCUSSION. THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT MEMBERS THAT HAVE THEIR ENTIRE MEMBER PAGES WITH ONLY AFFILIATE LISTINGS - YET, MY ONE DISCUSSION WITH A BLOG LINK WAS DELETED) * * * * Request donations, post charity requests, petitions for signatures, chain letters or letters relating to pyramid schemes, advertising or solicitations for funds, or mass mailings. (OKAY, Perhaps because my Blog is related to but not solely about my Work At Home Business, I can understand my discussion being pulled; BUT are not all of the discussions solely related to the AFFILIATE sites a bit more blatant and worse in some way or another?) * Post for commercial or advertising purposes, including classified ads in the discussion area. (Again, I am sorry if I did something against the rules and my discussion deserved to be pulled because it gave a link to my Blog site) * * Start discussions on individual issues you are having with myLot. Please contact myLot via private messages and your issue will be addressed. (I sincerely hope THIS is not what you mean. I am starting this as a means to open a discussion on things that I have seen since becoming a MyLot member. Please note that I have deleted many of the "Don'ts". I have done so either because I have not noticed the practice being done or if I have, I cannot pinpoint any one particular instance). * Post discussions, responses or comments criticizing members for bad/broken English or bad spelling. Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language. *(This is MY PERSONAL FAVORITE RULE! THANK YOU MY LOT!) Use all-caps or excessive punctuation. *(I have only done so in some of the above comments to show the difference between the RULE and my COMMENT) Post anything that inaccurately explains the myLot earnings algorithm. Our myLot mathematicians have worked long and hard on our elaborate payment system and we wouldn’t want any of our users to make them feel inadequate by breaking their algorithm in minutes. (I have no idea what in the world an "algorithm" is. I only know that the math whiz brother on "Numbers" on Friday nights says it a lot! LOL!) I hope that MyLot does not take offense at this Discussion. I hope that my Friends do not take offense at this Discussion. In fact, I know that my friends will not take offense - they are not the ones that do any of the things that I have pointed out above. ~Donna

I have been reading about several memembers who have recently had discussions deleted. Some of them were deleted for good reason. The person who wrote them says they dont know why they were deleted. Honeslty I cant figure out how this one person has gotten by with it for as long as she did. I remember your article and I did comment on it. I dont see how it was a bad article. I guess they just felt that you were taking people from mylot away to your new blog. By the way, I love your blog and I have refered several people to it. Sorry that your discusison got deleted.

I just told someone "thank youo", so my spelling mistake just canceled yours! I will be checking out my blog either later tonight (if it is a sleepless night) or tomorrow and see if anyone you have referred has shown up. You want this month's prize don't you, you ornery little nymph, you! I love you and thank you ~Donna

My understand is you can post your blog links or your referral links on your profile. You can also put your links in discussions you are commenting on as long as it pretains to the discussion. You can't start a discussion just to promote your affiliate link. This is where it gets confusing for me. I see it all the time. But in some cases it's tolerated and in other cases it's not. I know regular links with no personal gain are okay. I'm sorry your discussion was deleted.

I learned my lesson, but I agree with you; I'm not exactly sure what the lesson was. I just know that I will not post anything with links in it again. ~Donna

I decided I would only give reference to my link if someone actually asks for it in a discussion.

You know I've given up worrying about what is and isn't allowed now. I have friends whose points have been decimated (I mean they've lost literally 100's of points in the last few days!) and I really can't see anything wrong with what they've done. I read through the do nots and I can think of so many users on here that regularly do these things and nothing ever seems to happen to them! I've no problem with myLot having rules and regulations but I would just like to see them applied a little more even-handedly because at the moment it seems that people are penalised on an entirely random basis.

Hi Donna - have gone into your discussion "blind", like I normally do with all discussions as I now work directly from my inbox and delete the messages as I go along. I can't imagine why your discussion was deleted when there are far more blatant ones out there. I try and spend a bit of time on the quiet exploring and trying to get myLot to delete these discussions. Honest - it wasn't me that complained about yours. Don't worry - I haven't taken offense at your discussion my friend. lol ;)

Oh no, not for one minute do I think it was anyone that is a friend of mine! I am more inclined to believe it was someone who got a bit angry when I refused to give either a positive or negative rating to their comment, but did respond that I thought it was really rude for them to leave a comment that was just a link to an affiliate site. ~Donna (Now, I think that I have just broken one of the rules by making reference to another member! LOL!) ~Donna

It's nice to know that others do read the guidelines. I see so many people who post discussions that are in the don'ts. Do not get me wrong, I've made my share of mistakes. We are only human after all. I try to check the don'ts list once a week to refresh myself. That way one I don't break them, two I don't post to discussions that will end up being deleted, and when I can report them for breaking the guidelines. I hate reporting but at the same time the don'ts are there for a reason. To keep the spammers out for the most part. I agree putting your blog isn't bad but I can see why they decided it was a no no. So many will post referral links in discussions, just check out the discussions with no responses you'll see tons of them and they don't want that all on here. It would be nice if they had a section here for us to post our referral links though. Some general area so that way people won't keep making those discussions. An algorithm is formula for math, think of it as a recipe :) It goes through and takes this and that to come up with the final results. Hope that helps. Not sure what the actual word for word definition is but figured that might be a good analogy

You are quite welcome and believe me I do understand. It can be very frustrating when you are called on to the carpet for a minor infraction while others blatantly break the rules. It's amazing how they do that isn't? I guess no one is turning them in. I think we all get tired of the fight now and then. It's just one too many things to deal with at a time. Don't worry though, things will get better soon and I'm sure you'll be giving them hell without a problem :)

I Know how you feel, in many instances i've had people add their blog links, or some kind of money making or affiliate program to their response, and seen it happen a lot in discussions. Today i just added a link for a radio station website to a discussion of mine, but it's not going to make me any money, and it's not going to do anyone any good but the people that want to listen, it's just a radio station, and even then, i don't go posting it all over the place... I think it might be a good idea for them to either say no links or links, one or the other... that why it's black and white... Hope i didn't offend you with the link to the radio website

Thank you for your comment. What I copied and pasted are not even half of the "Don'ts" rules. They are only the ones that I have personally seen violated on an almost daily basis. The other ones I deleted since I had no need to comment on each and every one of them. ~Donna

Wow!I hope you are never interrogated for something you did not do. You have just admitted to things hardly anyone would would have called you on. Just have fun. What some people call nonsubstantive I think is just someone trying to break the monotony. As long as they have a good sense of humor I laugh. Don't sweat it. Just stay away from the big stuff name calling, threats apparently trying to explain the earnings thing ( I see that? everyday)and drawing people to other information about you on the web. Which to me is funny because you can list all sorts of stuff in your profile. There are all kinds of people on this site who get away with posting warped points of views about treating children, men, women, people of other faiths or national origins . Just know that any sensible response to the posts will be seen antagonism by the postee. Don't be surprised if the reaction is over the top. Know your limits and do not worry about the subjective stuff.

I have always wanted a fuzzy blue bathrobe, most of all an authentic chenille one; but they don't make that fabric any longer. Thank you so much for your comment and your insight. I do appreciate your words. ~Donna
