i had this experience, too. many times. it is because, they ask me to help them in some activities which are akin to school. this includes acting out a drama, proper delivery of speeches like oratorical and declamation pieces, cheering and presentations of booths in competitions.

WOW busy mommy! I have never coached. I was going to coach soccer one year because there was no coach, but eventually some guy volunteered, but he was clueless! So then I wished I had coached. Plus I didn't feel he played the kids fairly. He always put his son in whatever position he requested, and the other kids he wouldn't let do that, it seemed unfair. And also, he didn't know any of the rules, he just had the kids running wherever! I was hoping that at least my son would learn how some of the positions played.
I haven't yet though. And now with 5 kids I doubt I will be volunteering!

Exactly! I would do the same! Just cause your coaching doesn't mean your kid gets special priveledges. OK end rant. lol!

I have never coached any special activities for my daughter. She was never interested in sports at all. I do however encourage her to follow whatever extracurricular activity she would like to try. She has found none yet. I hope she does soon. She does volunteer at the thrift store where I work part time. She volunteers two Saturdays a month and during the summer she has committed herself to several hours a month. I think that is a great challenge for her. It will teach her the value of hard work!

I have never coached any of the childrens activities. I am not that good at any of them myself. I have helped the coaches when they have needed it. As a child I wasn't allowed to play any sports because my father wanted a daughter not another tomboy.
