They are big, frightening things from the ground but if you persevere and learn to ride they are wonderful fun. I have never owned a horse but learned to ride when I was a teenager. Now my daughter is a teenager and she has learned to ride and we can go out together it is wonderful to be able to share this with her.

I used to own 2 horses and rode everyday. They can be very gentle, loving animals. One of my horses used to follow me around like a puppy! I didn't need a lead rope or anything. They are large, but if trained properly, make great companions. Find someone who is knowledgeably and can teach you the right way to approach and horse and to ride one. I think you'll have a lot of fun and will have overcome a fear!

I used to ride a lot when I was still living with my parents. They have 40 horses. I used to be able to ride all the time. Then I moved away from home and I no longer have as much access to the horses. I really miss them. My mom's horses are so gentle that they will lay their heads on your shoulder for attention.
