Well I'm a muslim and as per my religion when ever I meet a fellow muslim I should greet him/her by saying 'As-salaam-alaikum', which means 'May God's blessing be upon you'. And the person replys by saying 'Walaikum-as-salaam', which means 'May God's blessing be upon you too'.
I usually do that when I meet my relatives, elders and some of my friends. Most of the time I just smile and say hi..

Most of the Muslims I know do not do that. Glad you're trying to keep tradition alive. :)

Thank you cursedsoul!! :) Well all the credit goes to my family who thought me the basics of Islam and the way to respect my elders (be it a muslim or a non-muslim).
