I am in the process of cleaning out my closet...too many clothes+too little space=a messy closet. I was going to donate my clothes until I came across the idea of taking my clothes to a consignment store such as plato's closet. Has anyone ever done this to earn money back on clothes you're trying to give away anyway?
I also thought about the idea of putting my clothes on ebay but I never sold anything on ebay before and don't really want to go through that whole process. However, you think I would earn more money on ebay than just taking my clothes to a consignment store?

Hiya dimplesnlaughs, I sold a top on ebay last week! Its the first thing I've sold on ebay and its really quite easy. I've just put on some Zippo lighters that my boyfriend engraved but they seem to be going a bit slow (haven't managed to get pictures). I really would advise adding a picture if you do decide to sell on ebay! :0)

Congrats on your first sell! Was it a new top or a gently worn top? How do you go about setting a price for your top that is decent enough for someone to bid on it?
Oh...LOL. What are Zippo lighters?

Thank you.... I sold the top for £5, I suppose setting the price depends on quality and condition. I would put it on for how much you would be prepared to pay for it! And a Zippo lighter is a petrol lighter that lights even in windy conditions. Well I hope this is of some help! Good luck with your selling. :0)

First there is nothing off topic here in mylot. Post and discuss your hearts desires :))) Personally I always donate to goodwill if my clothing is still in decent shape. You might not realize that not only does your donations help people under the levels of poverty but you are also helping to employ those people. If they are very nice clothes then you are providing a way for poorer folks to get clothes at prices they can afford to help them look for better employment where the clothing is a must.
Otherwise I would say consignment would be a great alternative, if you have need of extra money yourself. Ebay is a good solution but I think you have to establish yourself as a seller and that might take some time.

Thanks angel. I just wanted to make sure that my topic was appropriate for the interest area I was posting under. I have always heard about Goodwill but have never been inside one. I heard there are a lot of good things inside there. In the past, I have taken my clothes and put them into the clothes/shoes drop scattered around my area. I wonder where those clothes go to. Next time I will read the flyer on the drop bin...lol.
I never did the consignment thing but I have heard that they are really picky about buying clothes from the consumer. I don't blame them though.
About the ebay thing, I was thinking the same thing...that I would need to be an established user first before people would actually bid on my items. Ebay seems like a way for me to earn more for my clothes but it is a process to do so.
