Today is the day no one is supposed to buy gas,to show the gas companies we won't stand for these high prices that are hurting not only our families but our ecomny as a whole. Do you think it will work? What are some other ways we can try to bring these prices down?

I hope so, but really doubt it. They know what is going on. They will probably raise it to make up for today.

I am not sure that it will work..do the oil companies know that this 24 hour boycott is even taking place...if not, then how could it work??? I feel that we need to be flooding our government leaders with letters about the ever rising cost of gasoline and the impact that it is having on our quality of life.....they are the ones who can make something happen if that is possible...we also have a duty to vote when elections are going on...to stay informed of what our poiticians are doing or not doing for us..... I also have learned to perform my errands in a more cost effective manner...beginning furthest out and doing them as many as possible during one trip...

Great point tina,if they don't know will it work? I know people on the news and web have been talking about it for weeks, but I don't know if this will have much affect. We should be flooding our politictions with letters, but will they read them? Thanks

No I agree and I'm sorry if it sounded like you didn't have a great idea,I believe you do,and I myself have wrote and emailed people in my state regarding many issues,it's just discouraging when nothing seems to change.

While I agree that our politicians may not read a single letter...but I do not see how they can afford to ignore a massive outpouring of letters flooding into their offices...they are elected...we voted them into office and they can be voted out.....they have to recognize when they are stumbling over piles of letters or when we are jamming their email addresses...... In my opinion, if you are not taking an active role in voting and writing to your congressmen, governor, and the like...then you have no right to complain about the country is being run....each of have a voice in the politic system in this country ...I say use it to it's fullest and things are bound to change.....if everyone who was unhappy about the way things are...would write letters and vote....you would be amazed the changes that are possible...that is how our governmental system is supposed to work.... Unfortunately, few people are truly active with this....it is easier to complain about things than to try to help make the changes... just my thoughts.....

I haven't bought gas yet today, and will try to do my part by not doing so. I heard on the "money" portion of the news, though, that this probably will not affect the big oil companies. Are we sending a message? Don't know, I only know quite a few of my grocery products are going up as well, and even if the gas prices drop somewhat these items will not. We are so clever as a nation, let's put our thinking caps on to come up with a workable solution. Bush's only comment was to get the oil usage reduced within 10 years. At this rate, the usage will be reduced because by then many of us will not be able to afford to drive.
