A couple of my students and I were reading an article today (written in the 1990's) about friendship and pen pals. When we finished one of the girls said, "I don't understand why they would write letters." I inquired as to what she didn't understand and she said, "This had to be written in the olden days or they would have just Instant Messaged or Texted each other." LOL The OLDEN DAYS?? I hardly think of the 1990's as the way back when years. It got me thinking about letter writing and how it has really taken a hit with the increase of technology. Do any of you still write letters to people? I think it is such an intimate way to keep in touch, yet I am the first one to write a quick e-mail....I always say that I learn more from my students than they do from me and today really brought that home to me....

i still do write hand written messages to some of my friends.very true that it is more intimate and it says more than an sms or an email because our personal touch goes with it where you can dress up your letter with a customized stationary and envelope with a personal scent.a lot of kids nowadays does not understand the art and simple beauty of letter writing, i guess most of them has poor hand writing.

I am so into email. It is so easy and doesn't cost the postage. I don't make many phone calls either always hoping they have email so I can communicate that way. LOl 1990's the olden days, wonder what they really would think of the 50's. really olden days. LOL

Letter writing is fun for me and it has something truely from someone's heart and mind. I agree that technology has become one of our daily needs as to improve the quality of life. However I'm still writing letter or I would also receiving some from my friends. It is something that you can feel and not just read and delete after that.
