there are just some people who tend to beat around the bush, not get straight to the point and use frilly or unnecessary words which can be a bit tiring and dragging especially if the topic that yiu're talking about is something very important. :P i have experienced this with one of my friends and to tell you, it took a lot of self-control for me not to interrupt her and say "stop! get to the point already!" what about you? do you have any similar experiences? :)

I hate these ppl, who waste words and my time with that, I gently tell them to get to the point,...The trick is to tell them gently, afterwards, I tell them, afterwards, like I'm narrating an anecdote,... "Hey, you know what, Yesterday, I got caught with a guy/gal. My God! What a bore he was...He kept on using frilly words, and went on beating around the bush for an hour, and at the end of it, I was so frustrated coz' I could never understand what He was trying to say..." "But, I made a decision, to tell whatever I have to say, just pointblank and never dilly-dally about it..." Then I will ask that frilly-words-user person, " What do you think about this decision ?" Chances are that that about 90 % this person will agree to me and slowly but surely, He will start thinking abot this...In this way, we can change such persons. Yours friendly Heartwalker.

hey there heartwalker. nice name! anyway, i agree with what you have said, frilly words do tend to make a conversation boring as hell. i hope that people can realize that a smart conversation is better than a conversation full of frilly and empty words. :)

"Beating around the bush?" You mean something like circumlocution, not directly saying what you want to? Me, personally, I'm an impatient person and need to get right to the point, always. People who take too long to say what they want, I just cut them off or ignore them after their story gets boring. People who unnecessarily use long words in attempts to sound eloquent or intelligent also bother me, as far as flowery language goes.

yes, we're the same. i am a pretty impatient person therefore whenever i talk to someone, i would really like them to get straight to the point because by doing so, the conversation would be more productive. :)
