there are lots. but Noble House by James Clavel is one. i can't forget it, and i keep on coming back. i love the story and the characters - Ian Dunross is one heck of a man. singular, superb, on top of his game.

I love the book, "How to make an American Quilt"...I read it years ago and they even made a movie based on the book. I don't know why I loved it so much, it just makes you think about life and yuor relationships abnd how everyone is different.

Mine was Voyage au bout de la nuit (Voyage to the botton of the night) by Louis Ferdinand Celine, a French author. The book is about the disenchantment travel of a young at heart. Thru war and inmigration and misery he learns the truths of life. The language is impressive and the visual description is strong even with television and movies.
