Do you feel like metal detectors violate a student's rights?

Since the tragedy at Va Tech, many feel like security at schools (whether middle schools, high schools, colleges, and universities) should be tightened in order to protect the safety of the students. However, do you believe that having more security measures such as metal detectors and searches would protect or violate a student's rights?

I think that metal detectors are for all students safety. They are a great preventative measure. They may be an inconvience but then wouldn't it be to get shot.
