Does anyone else love this stuff? Yes, I know it is made from all the parts of the pig that people don't want to eat. and yes, I know one bite can harden three or four healthy arteries in a matter of seconds. But the stuff is just so darned tastey!
So, be honest, everyone. You are among friends. Do you like scrapple?

Sounds friggin' disgusting.
I'll take my unknown pig parts in the form of bologna or a hot dog, thank you.

I LOVE scrapple!! Just LOVE IT!! My mother has scrapple molds her father used to use when he'd raise pigs and make scrapple. It's not so much the parts no one else wants to eat as much as it is the meat on a pig that can't be used any other way. There is a lot of meat under the skin that you can't make chops, bacon, ham or any other cut from. Scrapple allows that meat to not go to waste. It is blended with seasonings (mostly salt and sage) and cornmeal, then poured into molds after being cooked well, and then set until it hardens into a loaf. It is then unmolded and sliced and fried. YUMMY!!! It really is only meat - not brains or guts or anything disgusting like that. I found it in Utah when I lived there, but until they started carrying it (a lot of Air Force personnel from the East there), my parents would send canned scrapple to me. Of course, the cheaper stuff has more corn meal, but when you're that far from home, it still tastes good! We've been buying ours at the Amish Market near us here in Jersey. They make the BEST stuff!! Seriously, anyone who assumes the worst should try it. I think they'll be surprised.

I love scrapple. I put a little butter and maple syrup on mine. I like my scrapple fried real crisp. I do not have scrapple very often. Fried cornmeal mush is good, but scrapple is so much better.

OOOhhh, I love it! My husband's uncle used to raise his own pigs and butcher them and he made the most fantastic sausage and scrapple I'd ever eaten. I'd always heard rumors that stuff like eyeballs went into scrapple but Uncle Carl said he never put anything like that in his! I love it sliced VERY thin and fried until it's VERY crispy.
