Will you accept a job even earn less than before just because you like it?

I arrived in Shanghai last Sunday, because I wanna be nearer by my boyfriend, I must live in the new city, his city, so I must find a new job here. One of my friends introduced me to the company before I got here, and the manager interviewed me this morning. I like the job very much, it's competitive, and it's a absolute new field, I can learn some more from it. The most important, I can stay here with my boyfriend. But, the company give me very little, even than what I got before, I think it just can pay my way in life, so I hesitate. If you were me, which will choose? The new job or go back to Beijing?

I've taken a pay cut to leave government service and reenter government service. My then wife complained but I made sure that while I took a pay cute she did not have to. However, I think the issue in my case was not so much the pay cut but more like a case of once I entered the business world, I would have less attention for her.

You did say that your boyfriend wanted to live by himself and wanted to leave you, but you want to be near him? Why should you take a lower salary and take a job that couldn't possibly provide you with a better life than you already have for a guy that may or may not want you? In my opinion, you have answered your own question. Re-read the details of your post and some of the cooments you posted to discussion responses. Good luck.

If I were you, I would take the offer though it is less paid than what you got before. As this will be your first job in the new city that you cannot compare the consumption or expenses in your original city. I believe this won't be your permenant job either, so it is no harm to take it while you are settling down. In the mean time, you can look for a new one slowly. In addition, it doesn't make sense you just go back to Beijing without giving a chance to live in the new city where you have planned.

Yes i will definitely go fot that job...after all money is not the only things that can give you peace...i should enjoy what i am doing else there is no use of doing it... flow of money will never stop at any point of life..one should enjoy his/her life thoroughly....
