How can we help people in distress?

There are so many people in Asian and Afrcan countries who are victims of terrorism, natural calamities and malnutrition. How can we organize ourselves and do something for them?

Yes i totally agree that something should be done for them, but i also feel that charity begins at home and what about all the homeless ppl and ppl who cant afford mortgages, families who are forced to rent. At the end of the day i think there will always be these problems and nothing will ever be done to totally solve the situations. Too much money is put towards things that need not be put towards.
