what criteria do you use to pick best response?

i give best responce to thos who seem to have put some congnative thought into the reply they gave !

I wondered for a while if I could award 'best response' if there had been only one but since I get so few replies I decided I would. Then I try to give it to the person that tried best to answer the discussion or add something of interest. I try not to give it just to my friends but to share it so some of the award decisions might look a bit random. Then I try to help new comers that might not have received one yet (if their response is good) as receiving the first ever is best. I try to leave any discussion for several days before awarding to see if I get any more responses. I find it strange that some people seem to award them within a day of starting the discussion. I have one discussion that I could just not choose though because all of the responses were so good and helpful. I need to award some more tomorrow - I wonder who will be lucky.

Generally the best response I mark is the one closest to my opinion. If there is one that I think is a better idea than what I have put in the discussion I will mark that as best response. At times when the other two ways I pick a best response doesn't work than I will go with the one that makes the most sense. So for each discussion a different reason may be how I pick my best response.
