This past year i have been having a really big problem with dry skin on my hands and feet. I use lotions constantly but it dont seem to help at all. I have never had this problem before could be as much as i hate to say it because i am getting older lol. I use lotions for extra dry skin with vitamin e and lipids i go through it like crazy and still no better. Any one got any suggestions here? Do you have this problem?

Let me just second what the poster above me stated! Yes, Crisco works like a charm! Many dermatologists recommend Crisco. I haven't seen anyone recommend the butter flavored one specifically. One can take a can of Crisco, use a spoon and put some into a pretty little jar of some sort and put it in your bath/bed room an noone has to be the wiser as to what it is! It can be used on the arms and legs too! Careful, not to much, a little goes a long way!

Something that works really well for me it a homemade sugar scrub. It really softens my skin and feels so much better. The best part is that the softness is immediate. Here is how I make my sugar scrub Olive Oil Sugar Vitimin E I use equal parts of olive oil and sugar. I open the vitimain E and put the actural liquid into the olive oil and sugar. When using 1/2 cup each of oliv oil/sugar I use about 5 Vitimin E I use this scrub in the shower. Be aware that it will make your shower slick so be sure to wipe it out before someone else gets in and falls.

My friend and former officemate had that same problem, she's young so it's not because of age in her case. It had something to do with hormonal imbalance, and lotions and moisturizers alone cannot solve the problem. She's taking some medications for it.

Drink more non-carbinated fluids! You need to hydrate your body, especially as we age. Check your diet, too. What are you eating that dries you out? What about medications. I know that most of the medications I use dry out my body and I have to really work hard at staying hydrated. Yeah, getting older. It happens, but the alternative is not too inviting yet!

I spent 10 years of my life as a nurse...specializing in elderly care..... I have a remedy for you...please do not think I am crazy...I have had actual orders written by more than one doctor that recommended: Taking butter flavored crisco....rub it into your skin (hands and feet); cover with clean white cotton socks and sleep....within as little as 2-3 days you will see a dramatic improvement... I believe that you can probably purchase this product in Canada... This sounds funny, I know, but I have seen dry skin where the skin actually breaks open and bleeds...and this remedy cured it.... Pleae let me know if you try this and it works for you....I know that if you try it you will be pleasantly surprised.... Good luck with whatever you decide....

My brother-in-law has very bad dry skin due to his diabetes. He has found that Melaluca lotion for very dry skin works for him. It's the only thing that works for him.
