I have used PCs ever since DOS 5. Microsoft has been slumping lately with the release of Vista (Me II), IE7 (embryonic, bug-infested nightmare), and poor Windows Live One Care (AV scanner rates below standard in AV-Comparatives, and Windows Defender is even worse); yet I still feel Microsoft really made it happen with IE6 and Windows XP. Thanks to the security software I use, and of course my own technical knowledge of what to use, why, and how; my system is every bit as secure as a Mac, or a Linux box. Here's how I score in PC Security Test 2006: Besides the slight edge in graphics offered by the Mac, or Linux's wealth of programming platforms to cater to the likings of the enthusiast with lots of time on their hands, there is nothing in my eyes that raises either of these above a Windows PC. While the average user suffers miserably this plague of hacker attacks, spam, and phishing fraud, we savvy few and those wise enough to consult with us enjoy the same (and better) exemption that most Mac and Linux users believe to be reserved for them. And finally, we enjoy universal compatibility, the ability to upgrade piece by piece, and an advantage in overall versatility that neither Mac OS nor Linux will be offering anytime soon.
