"Hijacking" another's discussion

I have a question for all you MyLotters out there. The other day someone posted a discussion asking people about blogging and traffic to their blogs. In that discussion they posted a link to a forum that helps out new bloggers. Wonderful, I think that is a great topic. I responded a few times including the addition of a link to a different blogger forum that also helps out new bloggers and the blogging community. After I did that the original poster said that I "hijacked" her post. Another commenter said the same. Since then the post where I linked the other form has been deleted and my ranking went from 90 out of 100 down to 67 out of 100. My question is this: is that fair? Did I "hijack" her thread just by adding a link to another forum? Was I out of line? This is just bizarre to me because it seems like these discussions are all about helping people out. AND there were tons of people providing links to their personal blogs that no one complained about, so why should providing a link to a blogging community cause problems? If you all think I was in the wrong, I will yield to the wisdom of the MyLot community.
