Why do you follow fashion?

I never have been very interested in "fashion", I have always dressed the way I wanted to. But I do know of course that many many people want to be 'in style', and my question is why? why is that important. We have all seen people wearing clothes that just don't suit them, trying to look too young, or too figure revealing when they don't have a nice shape. Why does anyone put on clothes that makes them look silly?

I am not fashion conscious nor do I want to be a a slave to fashion. It is only appropriate that we dress according to our likings. Fashion changes very fast and if we have to be up to date with fashion, it wll burn a hole in our pocket. Fashion designes recycle the trend after a few years so you can see the dresses you had 10 years ago will come back be in fashion again. People are mostly influenced by fashion models they saw and trying to imitate them only results in disaster.

Yes, I have seen that happen with fashion also. Really it is the details of fashion that change, the fabrics used, the hem lengths.

By nature human being always look for something new in life. Fashion is one of them. We want to look like as others look. The sense of looking good is a part of fashion. Fashion changes as per requirement of us. We too want changes in day to day activities. If we follow the trend of 50 years back, the people will make a laugh at us. It will be rediculous. So it is essential for all of us to go with latest fashion. Society accepts it. Though everyone of us is free to be live as per his/her choice. Few of us do so. They do not bother too much for new thing and live as they want only. They do not care about friend, family, society etc. They just do what they think is right. But this is not good. We should always keep changing in everything.

Thank you for your interesting comments. But I don't understand how wearing what I like, even if it is different from what is in fashion, how it is "not good". I do care about my family, my friends and society in general, but how is dressing my way a hurt to them? I know others will make comments, but again, why should that matter?

I am not really into the fashion scene, I wear what I look and feel comfortable in and that is never really what is the hippest or hottest thing to wear.
