Paris Hilton. Money Talks!

I think we all knew this would happen. Once again I think a mockery has been made of our justice system. What is your opinion? Hilton's jail term cut to about 23 days Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday. The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said. Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said. Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said. I think the saying "You do the crime - you do the time," should apply to everyone. Just because she is well known is no reason for her sentence to be cut. As for this luxury hotel cell for certain people - it is in my opinion a total waste of taxpayers money. If these people want to break the laws of the land let them do their time with the general prison population like you or I would have to.

Yes, daddy's money probably came into play. I really hate it when rich and famous persons can get away with almost anything. I wish some of the inmates would give her a hard time. LOL.

This is just so typical of the so called rich & famous in the US. There is really not much else I want to say about her, except that she will have to put up with critiscm for years to come.

This is ridiculous, you do the crime you do the time has to apply to everyone equally. So the spoilt little brat has managed to wriggle out of half her time and it looks like she will be accomodated in a place worthy of a spa. What kind of message does this send out to everyone I wonder, Oh yes, I'm guilty of a crime but I am so pretty/rich/famous/etc that I can get away with it. This isn't justice, it's a farce

Makes me wonder what kind of "good behavior" they are referring to. She's never going to learn anything from this. You know they wouldn't go this easy on a regular Joe Schmo from the streets. But poor little rich girl just can't bear to stick it out with the big girls in jail. Oh boohoo.

You are right money does talk she should get the same treatment like everyone else. I know she wouldn't get a lot of time.

It's not fair, but I guess this is how they do things. It's for sure that money does talk and I'm sure her Daddy played a big role in helping her out once again. She wont ever learn her lesson if people keep helping her out of these situations. She should serve the time just like anyone else would have. Why is she so special? Besides she is Paris Hilton? Oh well, nothing will change.

I think it's garbage. I get so tired of celebrities getting by with murder because they have money. I know that she was trying to get the governor to pardon her from jail, period, because she was to pretty to put in jail and we couldn't live with her beauty, or something stupid. I think it's garbage. If I had done what she did they wouldn't think twice about sticking me in jail for 45 days. It's not fair and it's garbage. She did the crime, she should do the time.

You are right. She's not to pretty to put in jail because she's not pretty at all. That girl is butt ugly in my opinion.

Of course everyone knew this would happen. I just wish people would stop the comments. If no-one took any notice of her the world would be a better place. That would be a proper punishment for her.

Well, it was an event waiting to happen. Ofcourse the family is one of the most influential people in the workd and among the wealthiest so its just ery normal to see these events happening. And also given peope caring service while in prison. Hmmm, thats life.

I had no doubt this was going to happen. There would be no way they could put her into the general population anyways....she would not have survived it. It would stand to reason that they have a separate facility for high profile prisoners, but that really doesn't serve the points of justice. If the high profile cases were put into the general population for even one day I bet they would come out too scared to break any more laws.

i am still in shock that with all the money she has, why the heck didn't she have a driver with her? she should do the full sentence., and then pay alot of fines. If she killed someone while driving, i think she would also get lesser fines. its amazing how much money can buy you these days.

I think this proves a certain point: the legal system sucks!. She should be put behind bars like every other person, not in a freaking spa.. it just proves that money makes the world go round. and then the considered factors..since when is it good behaviour for a soon-to-be inmate to "actually appear for the latest court date"?They are supposed to be forced to go there, its not a freaking choice.Although i find her a beaty among women, she shouldnt be able to get away with things like this!

I agree that the "good behaviour" is a joke but I do not think she is beautiful in any way.

I thought the rich and privileged were above the law in my country only but this Paris Hilton stint proves me wrong! First of all she should have served all the 45 days with common inmates and should never have been allowed a reduced sentence, secondly why didnt the judge just "sentence" her to spend those 23 days in one of her hotels in the penthouse suite? I mean what kind of punishment is spending 23 days in cells reserved for "high profile" inmates? thats letting her off the hook really easy if you ask me! Come to think of it, why do such cells exist in the first place? God Almighty whatever is next? first class prison cells and economy class prison cells?

Hi whiteheather. Yes, it's the same old soup warmed over. Time after time we see this happen and we know what the outcome will be. Anyone who believes that justice is equal under the law is only fooling themselves. Everyone in the know is aware that mercy is shown to the elite who can afford to pay for it.

If you ask me Paris Hilton should serve her whole term. She's getting special treatment just because she's a so called " celebrity." She's no more special than the rest of us. Paris Hilton did the crime, she should do the time. Put her in a regular jail cell, that's what she needs. She thinks she can go out and break the law because she thinks she's famous. She's not that famous to me.
