Being a Christian do you really believe that the Bible really came from God or was it really been inspired by God? or Being a Muslim do you believe that the Quran was really dictated by Gabriel to Muhammad?

We Muslims believe that Quran is the word of The God. But it was not dictated to Muhammad as Muhammad (pbuh) was not learned, i.e. he was not able to read or write. It was conveyed by Gabriel to Muhammad who in turn recited it to his collegues. His collegues then (immediately) wrote it down.

I thought the story went, the miracle of Mohammed was that he could not read or write but he went away for some time and came back and he could read and write. That's what my Husband told me, he's Muslim

I am afraid that is not true. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not learned and he stayed like that till the time he departed this world. And that is the miracle of him. Not being learned he came up with a book that is matchless in every aspect. It has challanged the whole mankind to come up with even a single verse matching what it contains. I do not know how your husband has said what you have mentioned above. I think it was a misunderstanding of some sort.

Being a Muslim i really belive that The Holy Quran is GOD's Words. As it contains the rules how to lead a peacefull and happy life. And it also ecplains how HE created this world. And before The Holy Quran what are the books HE send Upon us and who are His representatives. Quran also says about Gesus and His Mother and about his bearth and for what He fights for. It also says about Moses who comes before Gesus.

The Torah, (1st 5 books of the Bible, or The Old Testement) was written by Moses's scribe as told to him by Moses, as was told to him by God.

All the religious doctrines have one and the same root, just the interpretations are different. The primal ideas are inspirited by something Supreme. But most of the facts and their explanation come from the human nature and that`s why there are so much mistakes and contradictions.

The bible was written by Man..just as all the other religious books. The fact is Man made up religion in general so really no one knows for sure who is right until it's all over with. The funny part is so many of these books and mythos have similar trains of thought in them that I sometimes wonder if the same people wrote them and just sort of changed the wording to make it more acceptable to the people they were trying to control. Nope..I'm not Christian or Muslim..my faith is Pagan which is older than both of those :) :) Grinz. Good question Mark!

Its your opinion, but a sort of suggestion pls try to believe on something imaginary. At least if you have a problem, you have something to lean on that is something unknown.

I believe Quran is the Words/sayings of God in God's own words. God sent the Quran as revelations to Prophet Mohammad through Angel Gabriel(Jibreel) in different occasions. Quran itself make anyone feel it is from God if he really in search of truth and if s/he read with neutral mind. peace

Here is what I know. The Bible, and if I'm not mistaken other Holy Books as well, are not written by ONE man. They are sort of like journals written by many others who have witnessed the miracles of God, the life of Jesus Christ and works of prophets, collected and indexed into the book we now know. They are not works of fiction, yet they are not history books either. They are interpretations of past events, so they're not supposed to be taken literally but should be interpreted instead. Besides, most of the text has been lost in translation from the original language (Aramaic), so unless you have the original text and understands it, your own or a learned priest's interpretation is the best you get. As Christian. I believe the Bible comes from God, it's His words, but it didn't come directly from Him. It's the Holy Spirit in the writers that moved them to record what they saw, as a guide for the future. In my own opinion, it's because Men only understands what's taught by Men. You might ask, why would God need the Bible? Why can't He just come to you and just say it? Well, if you want to know about the Big Bang theory which one is easier? Read books about it or have someone explain it to you? Surely God doesn't want it to be easy for you. Your life is meaningless if you didn't give any effort. It would've been better if you were not alive at all if it were easy. Yes, there are differences, contradictions, mistakes and different interpretations, but we learn and grow through our mistakes. That's a way for us to strengthen our faith.

drawmoney - why do you (phuh) after you say Holy Prophet? I believe that the Coran (sp?) , Torah, and the Holy bible are from GOD through man knowing that there are errors because of the imperfection on man. I beleive that that the Book of Mormon is also from GOD, the Prophet Joseph Smith dictated it directly from Gold plates and the cool part is that The Prophet Joseph Smith was not educated. :) I believe that throughout the world there are many works from GOD that have been baried, hidden, or written only in the Hearts of man and its part of our job here to figure it out and The Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Torah and The Coran(?) are here to help us with this process, if we pray and listen knowing anger and hatred are from the devil/darkness/Lucifer (or whatever you name it) and peace and love are from GOD/ALLAH (or whatever you name is for HIM). :) May GOD watchover and protect you all

I believe 'pbuh' stands for 'peace be unto him'. I don't know the exact reason, but Muslims(this is how we spell it in our country) always put it after mentioning their Holy Prophet's name.

I am Muslim, and I believe that the Torah, The Bible and The Quran were all written by God, however the Torah, and Bible have been altered by men. The Quran is the only scripture in its original form. Read my response to this post about the Bible here http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1566153.aspx
