A health problem dilemma....

My family and friends have given me all kinds of input on my problem so now I'm looking for some ideas here. For almost a year I've had a light brown patch on my back that is as big as a fist and is numb. I started with my primary care physician and she sent me to a neurologist and a dermatologist. I've had x-rays, blood tests, mri's and a biopsy taken. Not one of these doctors can figure out what it is. Finally, after going through all of that poking and prodding I've finally given up and just deal with it. There's no pain so I think everyone figures "what's the big deal?", but I worry because there has to be a reason that it's numb not to mention the discoloration. What would you do in my case? Is there another "specialist" that I should consider going to? I'm afraid that one day down the line some how it's going to turn into cancer or some odd disease and after all that I've been through.

I'm so sorry dear but I don't have any suggestions for you. I will however keep you in my prayers that this will be figured out and taken care of.

I am surprised that the dermatologist couldn't find out what is wrong. You said that the patch is numb. Have you tried a neruologist? There might be something wrong with some of your nerve endings. My mom had to see onw when she had a numbed spot on her leg. He was able to tell her that it was some kind of damage that happened from an accident she had.

I've seen a neurologist and had mri's done and still nothing. Amazing isn't it?

I'm sorry to say this but I really think you are asking the question in the wrong forum. When it comes to something as serious as your health, it's not the best solution to ask a bunch of strangers in a forum such as this. We are none of us doctors (I'm sure real doctors don't have time to frequent sites such as this to give medical advice - they have busy enough life as it is). I would strongly advise you to go back to your doctor, or ask to be referred to another doctor as it's obviously very worrying not to know what this patch on your back is and you must get the correct diagnosis before much more time elapses. Insist on being referred to other doctors and/or specialists. Good luck. x

Thanks for your reply. I have this question on a number of medical sites and it's been on them for months with no replies or replies close to yours. The last time I spoke to my doctor she said she didn't know what kind of specialist to send me to next. I did forget to mention that I have also seen ...I forget the medical name but a doctor who specializes in cancer.
