Should Parents Be Fined for Childrens Mistakes

I think when children do something wrong they should be held accountable for their mistakes. How do they learn when the parent gets a fine? This seems to be the way to handle a problem in our area. Any suggestions?

I think it is according to the situation..some parents teach their children to lie, steal, fight others..etc.. you can usually tell when the parent is the reason for these kids behavior problems..then I think the parents should pay..if the children have been punished for past behavior then they should pay accordingly with the school, law..etc..but if they broke a window of a car or something..then the parent has to be held responsible..but punishment for the child should also be manditory...

That is true, some parents aren't very good role models. Thank-you for responding.

I think till a certain age of around 12 the parents should be held responsible, after that it should be the kid's problem as one should be old and wise enough at such an age to know what is allowed and what's not.
