Promotional experiences

I've been publishing my art journals through http://www.lulu.com since January. I've seen some success there, but I know there's more potential. For those of you who publish through this site (or others similar), what are your suggestions for promotion?

I also published with this site. The only thing I do is promote myself, by telling everyone I know or don't know, just to get myself known . I work with local bookstores in my area, I hold book signings and previews at my library. To be honest it is not the greatest promotion but it helps me out.
