Reiki is a form of energy healing, originally from Japan, which is said to cure almost any illness one may have. My experience with other 'faith healing' methods have not been good, so I mostly regard them as scams or limited in influence. I have yet to make up my mind about Reiki though.
What do you think about Reiki?

I've had one experience with it, and it was odd.
I was a massage therapist for years, and used to trade massages with other people in the area. Decided to trade with a Reiki master, and I don't believe I'll ever do it again. Either her master title was just a title and she didn't know what she was doing, or I just didn't accept it well. (very good chance of the latter.)
It left me unbalanced and funny feeling for weeks. I stick to normal swedish massages from here on out!

You make a point that is my biggest concern this these practices. If it is not a life altering experience for the person receiving it then it is said that they didn't receive it well. Whatever.....

I remember going to a friend's store when a very well known Reiki master was doing a session. Almost immediately I felt an overwhelming force expanding out from the room he was in. It was only later did I find out he was there.
Haven't met any reiki master that came close since.

I've been studying Reiki for a few months now and recently earned my Reiki I certificate. I do believe in the power of Reiki, which is otherwise described as a universal life energy. Reiki can only do good, without harm. If you hear people talk about how they felt funny or unbalanced after a Reiki session, it's not a bad thing. Most people don't realize that Reiki can cause your body to go through a cleansing process similar to a regular physical detox, so you can feel funny for a few days, but should feel much better afterwards!

Touch healing (hands healing) is famous for hundred of years. Yes, I do believe under on condition. The person performing healing has to have a lot of energy to make it effective.
Reiki is similar in nature…but I don’t think many people can do it. I have seen classes for reiki…again…..you can learn it only if you have the energy already….

Reiki isn't really a faith healing method. It has certain similarities in the need to lay on hands or at least be close to th person in the initial levels. Reiki is simply transmission of energy from one person to another, or at higher levels opening to the universal flow and letting it move through you. These later levels are more akin to faith healing but are the ones that work best.
MY problem with Reiki is the level system by attunement. Anyone can simply by higher level attunements with little practice and be rather disturbing as a healer.
It's the people that practice for years increasing their knowledge that can do amazing things.
As with all energy practices scammers will abound, though.
