What do you think Twin Peaks was like before Laura Palmer was killed and the series started? No Dale Cooper, no FBI, and none of the snowballing events that occurred after the crime. I imagine the show would be an amusing soap opera, and I firmly believe that that is not campy. All of the people in Twin Peaks would have had their running criss-crossing storylines. But how would it be? I imagine Laura Palmer would not be the sole focus of the story. The whole point of the TV series is that she has all of these secrets contrary to who everyone thought she was. I think she would've been a background character for people to talk to, being beloved by the audience, but never really the focus of any storyline per se. Her murder would take everyone completely by surprise. She would be someone the audience would be familiar with, but this would be something nobody could expect.
