Curiosity has got me now about mylot and what we are supposed to do!

I'm basically a member of mylot to make a little bit of money. I wouldn't mind making some friends along the way either. That would be a big plus. I obviously like to talk and write or I wouldn't be here but is the idea to start a discussion, read the responses and rate them with the idea that I get credit in money and in ratings for responding to the responses and rating them or am I supposed to just type out a discussion and forget about it? I think what I'm trying to say is am I supposed to care about what I'm writing and what kind of responses I get? I've read and responded to a few discussions regarding responses to what we write about. I've also noticed quite a few members with complaints. To be honest I'm very confused. Can anyone shed any light on the whole idea here?

You kinda have the idea. You want to post 'quality' discussions - ones that people can respond to with good answers/responses. The big secret I've learned is making friends here - the best way to do that is to get to know people: respond to their discussions with good responses, getting into conversations lets people get to know you and you them. Yes, you should care about what your writing - read the guidelines and follow those. You want responses and when you start making friends you'll get good responses from good friends because everyone is helping everyone. Also you can turn your 'friends' on notify so when they post a new discussion you will get an email so you can respond to that - if you do it for them many will do the same for you.

Well, out of a hundred friends not every one of them is going to respond to every discussion your post - your discussions will have to be something they are interested in, have some knowledge of, or enjoy. I do have a little over 100 friends and all of my notifications are turned on. I use Yahoo mail for myLot and have 2 folders set up with filters so 'new discussions' go in one folder and 'responses' go into the other. Makes it easy for me. For example I got an email when you posted this discussion so I could respond to it (your on my friends list). I posted a discussion a few hours ago and out of 17 responses so far 13 of them are 'friends' and there will be more later because I don't some don't come online until later in the day.

It depends really. I mean the notify button lets you know when your friends start a new discussion. Sometimes I have just a few emails letting me know and other times I have over 60. It just depends on how many your friends start.

I'm glad you brought up notify...If you have 100 friends and they actually all respond to your discussions won't that fill your email very fast?

You have basically nailed it on the head. My lot is here for us to hold discussions on almost any subject. The way you respond to your discussions is up to you. I have had to come to grips with users that post and forget. You will find that all of the time. I Try to keep a discussion going for as long as I can but it normally doesn't happen. As far as the money yes it does actually pay I have set my payout level up to $25.00 that way when it does payout I will have more to play with. And yes good quality discussions will earn you more, so make your discussions something you care about, are interested on or have strong views about. Normally the more controversial the subject the more responses you will get.

You will learn as you go. It is a new world everyday. Some people love to stir things up and others just want to enjoy the information. Certain subjects tend to get heated so if you are not into hot debating you should stay away from those. And by the way, I love country music too.

Maybe we should. We are probably more peaceful than some of these people. lol But really, I love a good debate as long as everybody stays peaceful. Two of my favorites are politics and religion. Talk about getting heated!!!

Hey, janet069, considering all of the country music fans, maybe we should start a country music fan club.lol

I'm learning by reading other discussions and some I can't respond to because they seem to be referring to events on mylot that I have no knowledge of. Another country music lover..how cool!

I don't know about other people but I try to make my discussions interesting and my responses to the point. I care about what I write as it reflects on the type of person I am. I get on my lot more for intellectual growth and as a means of having fun and making friends.

I too am still in the dark about some things here on MyLot, ctry. Like, I have tried to leave friends a message, but I still have not gotten it right. I can't speak for anyone else, but when I give a response to a discussion I always think it over carefully because I really do care. I also read profiles before I ask to be added as a friend. Sometimes you'd be surprised at who ends up as a real friend!

I definitely see your point. Reading profiles is a smart thing to do since we don't want to have more friends than we can actually help and end up having them delete us.

I think I'll have to keep an eye out for you if your into "stirring things up"...I have enough drama in my real life without adding more to my internet life. But I will watch for your wit and wisdom. That will be a plus.

So far it seems that the majority of the members here are very helpful and that makes it a nice site to belong to doesn't it?

I can only respond to you on what I feel. I am a writer from the heart and I just write what comes to me. Every one's intellectual capacity and command of the English Language varies here on Mylot, so every on'es Mylot view will be different. What most of us can agree on is that you try to post positive discussions that may prompt interest. Of course here again, there are so many diverse people here on Mylot that you can find many subjects and many interested people to respond to them. Making friends does help to a degree and also when you rate and respond to other's discussions, they will probably be interested in returning the favour. What I do now on Mylot is respond to at least one discussion from people who have responded to my discussions, then branch out to my friend's list then go to the Mylot general pages. The secret is to post quality responses and discussions, rate discussions and answer to Mylotters that have responded to your discussions. I do hope this helps a bit. I don't like to complain about Mylot, but for those that are making money online, it is a good place to alert other members of scams that are running amok on the internet, as his helps keep membes away from bad programs.r

I think there is nothing to be confused about here in mylot. Just do what you think is right and try to make reasonable posts and responses. But just be cautious about these people who tend to fuel a discussion like for example they have a negative impression on your post and they respond unpleasantly. Just don't mind it and try to take it low.Don't get into them instead, try to be positive. Goodluck to us!

This sounds like some great advice and I'm going to follow it. I have to realize this is just an internet site like any other site I would be on and it doesn't really matter what others feel about my opinion because I'm entitled to it.

sometime when i see a discussions with posts without any answers from the member who start that discussions most of times i am doing this closing that discussion and locking for other one to answer. why iam doing that? here in my lot making friends is very important so you well not get board and good for rising your earning because they add posts to your discussions.. so when i saw member who did not care about being nice with members how answer his discussion i know that he well not care about me and we never be friends so i well lock for other discussion. for me i am answering most of the posts in my discussions at least i say thank you for your answer. it well not take any time to do that... good luck

I've noticed that members here have either very few friends or over 100 friends. I check out their ratings and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. It seems very hard to figure out how it works here.

In a way yes. It's always good to read or respond to someone who is familiar with their topic, or can come up with a good argument. Sometimes I see people post nonsense just to get posts, which is fine with me since most of us are here to make some extra money. But I find it not even constructive or helpful posting/discussion. So yes, definately aim for quality posts and discussions. You have nothing to lose really, and you may gain some friends and useful insight into different topics too.
