I am accessing the internet through a shared connection over a wireless home network of which the modem is connected to my brothers pc. No wires is a big plus and im soon to add a third pc to the network and get a router.

if youre already able to connect through wireless using that home network connection throigh wireless right, why add a router when adding a new pc? are you using a 2wire modem?

we have a similar connection but it is a router which we are using rather than the modem. there are supposedly three computers around but the laptop was ruled out to be not of much use anymore. another one is coming up next week to take up its place.

yeah, coz there are actually modems that are now capable for networking and thats 2 wire modem...if youre using a dumb modem as we call it, it needs to have a router connected to do a network.

I am using the wireless connection available in my country. Pakistan Tele Communication Limited provides a wireless connection naming vwireless. This is working well but there are still some problems we are facing and here are some needs of improvements and we hope that the problems would be rectified in just future.

I am currently using dail-up, because it it the cheapest internet connection on island. I would love to get DSL but it is $75.00 a month...lol..But the dail`up connection I have is not too bab! I use an TCP optimizer that makes it "high speed internet"

Yes, It really does wonders! It has been said by my friends who have used my computer that the speed is pretty much the same as DLS. If you are interested you can download the TCP Optimizer for free at www.speedguide.net

Hi Daryljane, I've been useing hi-speed cable internet for years now and we have dsl at work. I'm not sure if its the compters or the network or the dsl, but my cable at home is considerably faster than at work. Take care, Terry

speed varies actually if youre on a network..pc already shares the badwidth so its going to a lot slower...

I use DSL, but I won't lie, I loved getting Cable connection through Comcast; When I went in to check out the new Iphones, a rep told me that although the cable connection is good, folks could come and take your information with that connection. Is that so? I like the DSL connection but just want some confirmation.

iPhone is good..but its exclusively distributed for ATT members only..cingular so to speak...for the year though...you can use it with your other ISP but there are compatibility issues that comes with it...so you might be having trouble with the configuration, but you can give it a try.. comvast is good too! :)

I"m currently using DSL and my internet speed is fast. But there are times that it disconnects and i think the problem is with the company.

are you having intermittent connection more often then usual? because if its does, there migth be something wrong with the line outside..most of the intermittent connection is due to environmental problem too...like EMI and stuff like thats affecting your modem.
