I gave my daughter a crazy quilt for one of her wedding gifts . It was a quilt that I started working on over 2 years ago . At the time that I started it I had no idea at all that I would be giving it to any one as a wedding gift . I took me about 4 months to make all the blocks. At first I only made enough for a twin size quilt, then I liked it so much I decided to make it a double size. I continued to make blocks for a couple more weeks . Then for some reason about the middle of April that year I quit working and never did finish that quilt. I didn't work on any new project for almost 2 years . Then this past March the urge to quilt hit me again . I made some baby quilts for some family and then I had time to work on this one. By this time I was anxious to get it done since I wanted to give it to my daughter for her wedding . I was very pleased with the end result and so was Amy and her new husband Caylen .

That is a beautiful work of art. Congratulations on finishing it on time and for the marriage of your daughter. It must have been a very happy/sad time for you. It always leaves a big void when I finally finish a piece of craftwork. I don't have the patience for plain sewing/quilting but I like to do cross stitch pictures. I have filled the houses of my mum, my sister and mine!

Oh my dear I chuckled when you said " that you don't have the patience for plain sewing/quilting . but like to do corss stitch pictures. " Cross-stitch to me requres endless patience, I used to do it when my kids were small . never thot I would tire of it. But I now find I don't have the patience for it . I have several kits from when Creative Circle sold their kits through parties ( unfortunately they went out of business in 1992)

Your quilt is so beautiful. You obviously have a talent for this. How many quilts have you made since you started making them?

You know I don't think I have an exact count of how many quilts that I have made. I was looking on a website that I posted pictures s of and counted over 55, but the site doesn't have all the quilts that I a have made over the years. I will have to go through my photo albums and do a count. I know a made a lot as gifts and some I didn't get a picture of .

That quilt is awesome! I didn't know what a 'crazy quilt' was, but after seeing it, I think I see why it is named that! I'm sure your daughter must have cried with joy. What a wonderful family heirloom that will become! I really wish that I had both the time and patience to do something of that magnitude! I do well to sew buttons on the family's pants when they pop off! They have to use safety pins for weeks until Mom 'gets around to' sewing the buttons back on!

I've never seen a crazy quilt, so thanks for sharing! I'm guessing it's called crazy cos it's not made of regular geometric shapes? Your daughter and her husband are very blessed! I think when i do get around trying to make a quilt, I'd start with a simple baby one. My paternal grandma made me a kid-sized one, which still covered me well until I was the height of a 10 year old! it was so pretty and colourful and I still remember it vividly...

Hello, I realize this was posted a year ago, but I'm new to the site and I am just finding these wonderful posts about quilts and quilting. Your crazy quilt is beautiful! I really like how you used the dark navy as sashing and the borders. The blocks really "pop" as a result! Well done! Have you started any other crazy quilts since this one? Happy Quilting! Susan

Heart Quilt - I'm still not finished with this quilt.
That is amazing. I'm never managed to finish a quilt in my life. Even a marriage wasn't enough motivation as my daughter just got married on May 12. I'm so glad you passed it on to someone who will love it and treat it right.

Your quilt looks really nice bigpinkmomma:) I don't think I would be able to work on something for long, I usually get impatient if I don't finish whatever I start right away LOL THat's why I appreciate your work even more. I really takes a lot of patience:)
