Do you buy or sell on ebay?

I do both and have for a lot of years. Some of the awesome buys I've been able to get have amazed me. The all in one printer I use now I have had for 4 years and got on ebay for $25 including postage, brand new. I use it a lot so I think I got my money's worth out of it, in fact it's not so gone that it still can't be used so I'm giving it to a friend because I just got another one on ebay, almost the same one, brand new but this time I got it for $47 including postage. These are only 2 of the great transactions I've had buying on ebay. I could go on but won't bore you...lol.. As a seller I recently opened a store to help save a bit on my listing fees and I'm having fun with that. I don't get rich from it but every bit helps. It's fun for me watching as the bidding goes up on items that I'm selling plus I sell magazine subscriptions at ridiculously low prices that are really selling well for me. Do we have any avid buyers or long time sellers here on mylot? As a change of pace let's try only talking about our positive experiences there.

I have been selling on ebay for the past few years. As most know the money is usually paid through PayPal. After I am paid, my daughter shops on ebay. We come out about even and she has gotten some great deal on things she needs.

That's cool! You make the money and your daughter helps you spend it. There's a collaboration for you. lol....

I do both, mostly sell. When my daughter was born, it was a great outlet to sell her baby clothes. When they are that small, the definitely outgrow them before they wear out. eBay was a much better payoff than Once Upon a Child. Now that she's older, she is harder on her clothes so I can't sell them anymore, unless it was a special occasion item that wasn't worn much. As for buying, I like to look for collectables. I had quite a Romper Room collection, but sold most of it this past winter.

Baby clothes are a big seller on ebay so what I do is when I have extra cash I go to the goodwill stores and buy a bunch of all the same size baby clothes and sell them all together. I had some regular buyers who were always in the market for them until their kids grew up.

Another awesome thing about ebay is being able to browse the listings. I should do more of that than buying...lol...

It's always easy to find Disney movies on ebay at good prices. I sold a ton of brand new ones last year for $5 each and I got them for nothing.

I usually just buy, but I've heard of people who actually make a living by selling and reselling on ebay. By buying on ebay you can find some bargains and good deals, and it's well worth it imo.

I both buy and sell on ebay since 2001. I love it. my fisrt selling experience was cleaning out a closet and finding a ton of stuff to sell, I made nearly $1000 within a month with stuff that had just been sitting there unused taking up space. I also helpthe le landlord cleanout the basement and made $500 from old books that were down there that was left by past tenants. I have sold somethings for others and made a commision, this has gone so so, the money wa sok but the product was more delicate than I expected and very hard to ship without breaking, as well as my friends expectation of what his items were worth (not as much as he thought) but overall I have had great experiences with Ebay!

I'm always happy to hear of good experiences with ebay because one bad transaction makes all sellers look bad. I've sold for others also and have made out pretty good.

Doesn't it seem like there always has to be that one bad time to ruin the rest? I'm happy it was only one though and it didn't turn you sour on the whole thing.

I also sell and buy on ebay. I have gotten some great deals on ebay, I have also found things there that I can not find locally. Selling is more of a "hobby". I live out in the country and it's too far from town to have a yard sale; so I put things up for sale on ebay and if they don't sell I either keep them; trash them, or give them to a charity. Right now, I am selling my old books (there is a link on my profile page) - I have a bunch of Anne Rice novels and romances this week. I'll probably run out of books to sell around the beginning of next month and then I'll see what else I want to get rid of and list it. I don't make a lot; but, I make enough to cover my costs and pay for a few things I want to buy.

I sold all of my Anne Rice novels on ebay a couple of years ago. They are usually great sellers. I guess it's more of a hobby for me also and does pay for the few items I like to buy there. I also have the Paypal debit card which really comes in handy for me even if there isn't a lot of money in my account.

Usually, I just spend the money in my paypal account on the things I buy on ebay; but, when there is some extra left over, I just have them transfer it directly to my checking account - it's free and it's there in just 1 - 2 days - then I can withdraw it, write a check or use my bank debit card. It one less card to keep track of and remember the PIN number for.

I adore ebay. I have been addicted to buying since 1995 and I have just started selling last year. I have found toys from my childhood (I bought the entire fisher price lap sitter doll collection on ebay) and I have found tons of old cross stitch stuff. I buy retired Yankee Candle scents on ebay too. I think I buy something from ebay at least once a week. Most weeks I buy two items and sometimes more. A couple of Christmases ago, I found an entire set of Robert Jordan Wheel of Time books, all hardcovers with original dust jackets for $50 including shipping. I bought them for my hubby's present. I made him cry he was so touched. I have found really hard to get toys for my son too. I LOVE Ebay.

I have bought two items on e-bay. 1) Bonsai tools and 2) Acrylic paint set. Both at very low price and I am happy with both purchases. I like to go to e-bay to window shop as I can't afford to buy things at the store for my hobbies. Too expensive!

natty, I also love to window shop on ebay and find that I do it often. Sometimes it's a good way for me to compare prices for what I'm selling. rafael, I'm definitely going to check out your store! Good luck with it.

I've done a bit of buying and a bit of selling on eBay. I prefer to buy, as I think the final value fees are extortionate. I've had some wonderful bargains, particularly on tops and jewellery. I got a top that was in a shop for £14 for £2 including postage, and a necklace that was £99 for £10! Pretty good savings, but I prefer shopping in real life now as I live in a place with a lot of good shops.

ebay is great for me because I don't get out of my apartment very often and I don't drive. I love having packages come to my door with the goodies I've purchased.

Hi,ctrymuziklvr! I have never bought or sell on ebay. But my friend and I plan to establish an online shop selling some homemade decorations. I want to buy goods on online shops but I still believe the online shops are unsafe more or less. And I cannot make sure that whether the good is my ideal one.

You have to be very careful when you buy anything online. If your talking about crafting supplies online your usually pretty safe there, I've bought a lot of them online and never had a problem. Be sure to check out the company your going to deal with.

I think it's great that ebay is available all over the world unlike some other money making sites.

I do about one "buy" for every 2000 sales I make. But you have to have buyers and sellers for it to work

So, I'm guessing your a seller and doing well. I have a lot of regular buyers who often ask me to list certain items for them which most of the time I can do for them and it's an automatic sale.

I haven't sold anything on Ebay but I might one day. You never know. I bought my first item on Ebay about two years ago. I mainly buy things that my childre have asked me for. Like their gameboys and gameboy games. I find that I can get them on Ebay for a fraction of the price I will pay any where else. I have also bought a few digital cameras as well. For the most part I have had only postitive experiences on Ebay. Don't get me wrong I have had a couple of bad ones but nothing that would keep me away from Ebay. Just taught me to be more cautious is all.

I have heard about a lot of bad experiences on ebay but we also have bad transactions in our local stores. Have you ever looked at the lines in the stores where people are returning their purchases? Your right, just as in stores we need to be cautious when purchasing any place.

I do both also, but I mostly buy. Right now I'm purchasing hard to find Teletubbie birthday party supplies for my daughters 2nd birthday. I have found some very good deals. Currently, I'm only selling 3 things. I had a store but right now I don't have enough inventory, so I decided to close it. But I agree that it does save a lot of money if you have a lot of items to post. Best of Luck with your sales and Happy Bidding!!

Ebay is a great place to look for those hard to find items because there is always someone who has something we want or need. I hope you have luck finding those Teletubbie birthday supplies!

absolutely. we have done both and have never had a bad experience. we have had a few minor ones, but luckily we have only dealt with nice people. we have purchased a variety of items from adult figurines to video games to our latest purchase of garden plants (rhubarb, horseradish and strawberry plants) we've sold newly purchased items and stuff we found lying around the house. ebay is great. i only wish i had bought stock in it when it was first starting.

Isn't that the truth! Who would have thought that ebay stock would be worth what it is today? I would be happy with 10 shares at this point. I'm so happy to hear that you have only had good experiences. There are so many people who take it out on the sellers like myself who offer superior service because of one bad seller.
