Why does everyone always have to get so PC?

A hotel is planning to create a "women's only" floor. This floor will contain amenities just for women such as fancy hair dryers and soaps. It will also contain a women's only lounge so that women can gather on this floor without having to go down to the main public lounge.
The hotel explains that many women who travel alone (or in groups without a man) are nervous about staying in hotels. They say women are also nervous about going to the public areas such as the lounge, etc, for fear of being followed.
The rest of the floors of the hotel would be regular floors used for everyone.
I think this is a great idea. I know how scary it can be traveling alone, and knowing there are only women on your floor (most likely traveling alone) would be slightly more reassuring. Not that I'd feel 100% safe, but I would feel better. I also like the idea that they have their own lounge so that they don't have to go out in the public areas. This would mean less chance of people (or crazy stalkers) seeing you and you wouldn't feel the need to hide in your room.
Now here's the point of the discussion. Of course there are those PC people out there saying that this should be against the law. They say it's not fair to discriminate by creating a women-only floor (even though every other floor will allow men). I guess I don't see what the big deal is. If a 20 floor hotel has 1 floor dedicated to women, why do they care? There is a gym near me that only allows women, is that discriminatory?
What do you guys think? Is this a good idea or bad? Do you think it discriminates or that people should just get over it? I think there are more important causes out there to fight for then whether or not this hotel has one floor for women. Please share your thoughts!

I think that it is a great idea. I personally don't see anything wrong, or discriminating about it because like you say, there are lots of other areas in the hotel for men. Some people will pick a fight just to have something to fight about.

Yep there are a lot of people out there who will fight about something that doesn't even affect them. Like they probably never planned to stay at the hotel regardless! But they want to cause trouble.
I just wish those people would put their efforts towards more important causes like homeless people or abused women or something that actually matters :) Thanks for commenting!

I think it is a great idea too. I've been in the situation with business travel in a predominatly "man's world" of industrial safetywear and a hotel in an unknown city with a women's only floor and lounge would be nice for those kind of situations!
With other floors available and normal things as usual, why should anyone feel this was discrimination?
