Which Operating System do you suggest me ?

I have bought a new laptop that comes with some free dos operating system. I'm planning to buy and install an Operating system.. Which one do you suggest ? I know windows is user friendly, but also heard Linux has developed a lot in recent years and is as easy as Windows nowdays ?
Which OS do you suggest me to install ? And Why ?

I would suggest you to try Linux, espeically the ubuntu linux which is the best i know. It is free also, you can download it from their site.

I dont really recommend you windows of their lapse in security and other issues which is still there.

Thanks for your response ! Yes, I have heard about Ubuntu too ! Is it a complete stable version now ? When I heard about it, it was in its earlier stages. Thanks for your information.

well i use windows Xp this time...and i will suggest windows Xp because windows Xp has lots of software that dont have Vista...there r most software which do not run at vista...after sometime vista will become best when software work is in progress for vista...in my opinion WIndows Xp is best this time...
