In judging best response, do you just take the first or do you take the replies?

When I am looking for best response, it is so hard for me most of the time. I find that most mylotters are so smart and well informed. Whether their opinion matches mine is never an issue. It's always the challenge of the answer. Often I find myself judging best response as much by the subsequent responses of the poster as the original response. How do you feel? Is the original response enough, or do you also judge the replies?

I also feel it is hard to pick the best response. So many have great information to share. I usually will decide the best response on the original response.

Do subsequent replies do anything to tilt the scale? I find that sometimes when I reply to someone's response, their reply to my reply makes it.

I think that the replies and the amount of discussion sometimes does help pick best response. I usually go with the one that is most informaional for me.

Yes rating the best response is very difficult here,as every other response has some solid point and fact in it.I believe, not only response counts for me but I also rate that response which is highly impressive and unique.I always sees if that person's mind has really have something to describe or he or she just wanted to higher their posts.I judge best response on the basis of clarity and simplicity. To the point response is mark best for me.

Some times I take in not just the response but all the comments that it might generate. If it adds to the over all discussion then it deserves to be credited for it. It's so hard at times to pick the best response. I try to wait till I have at least 2 pages to pick from but some I only have a couple of posts to them. The more responses though make it harder to pick one that is really better then the others. So many on here are excellent writers. I wish at times we could pick a first, second and third. Still would be hard but might be easier to determine which three are top.

Maybe if you have a lot of responses, they should give you the option of naming the top three. Or we could have a series of honors such as most amusing, most original, most thought provoking. Come to think of it, those would really be more useful. Make that "Most Useful."
