Degrading, insulting, ridiculing, and name calling are all forms of emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is a damaging form of child abuse. Emotional abuse can have long-lasting negative psychiatric effects on your children. You might think that it is ok to call your child an idiot, tell them that they are no good, worthless etc, but it isn't. Emotional abuse can result in child hostility and what do you think it is doing to their self-esteem? What are your thoughts on parents who degrade, insult and ridicule their children?

Yes, that's terrible and is definatly some serious damaging abuse. Some kids can pull through and become well adjusted but I think many of them have low self esteem, and other self worth issues. I think the parents will always get away with it because most people would fail to report such abuse. Some people don't even realize it's abusive. Some people just don't care. I wish the parents could be found and punished though. It's unacceptable for kids to have to live thru trama like that.
