Honor Killing?

I just watched an honor killing of a seven teen year old on Cnn.com. I will not provide a link, because it is to graphic and it made me sick. I can not believe that human beings can do this to each other. I had heard about this kind of thing happening in the Bible, and I had seen it in movies, but I had never seen someone actually do this. It was recorded with a cell phone camera, but it would not have been any less horrible if it had been recorded professionally. I was not prepared for what I saw, to say the least, it made me sick and I almost cried. To think that someone will stone and kick a family member to death simply because she was seen with someone that they did not approve of. Did'nt they love her at one time. Aren't they going to miss her. I don't think that I would be able to do that even if I was raised that way. This is completely heartless and disturbing. I hope that they find a way to put a stop to this permanantly and fast.

Rozie, Honor killings had nothing to do with loving or not loving someone it has to do with saving face. In some contries it is all upon your actions not love like us Americans. I do not agree with it, but in here we continue to stand up for our family no matter what they have done to our family or what they have done. We go to see our fathers, our brothers, sisters and friends in prisions in prisions who have committened horrible crimes. In American we still can hold our heads up high because we have our 15 minutes of shame then everyone forgets about it and we move on. In other counties the whole familes have to suffer for what one person has done, some familes have lost everything, they have lost their homes and are forced out of their towns. Some places the whole familes are killed. For some familes it is a hard deicision but it is the only decision. I am not condoning their actions I am trying to explain it.

Okay, I think I have heard about something like that before. I just was not expecting what I saw and it caught me by surprise. I would say that I would rather them do that to me, than for me to do that to my sister, but if it puts my whole family at risk, then I guess they did what they had to do. But then why would she be around someone that she knew could cause her her life and the life of her family. I know that she was young, but if you tell me to stay away from someone or die, you would not have to tell me twice, much less kill me behind it. I know the story of Romeo and Juliet, but that is nothing more than a glorified fairy tale. Surely people don't risk their lives for what they think is love. I mean, I would think that if you knew that someone was off limits, you would not be around them long enough to fall in love. I don't know. I just know next time to steer clear of such stories.

I am glad that I did not see it, I would have been shocked and horrified also. I understand why I just do not like it. We cannot control what other people think or do. I disagree with terriorests who do it in the name of thier lord. How can someone start a war of kill for religion, that makes no sence to me. I guess we will not have all the answers.

That is really sick! Being on My lot has made me learn a lot of things about different cultures, countries and religions. I thought arranged marriages weren't around anymore and they still are. And things like this situation unfortunately happen too. It is sad and they need to rethink the way they are doing things. But for some odd reason that I will never understand, it is their culture. And it is over something really stupid and small.

This is the part that makes it so much worse, they assumed that she was married to this guy and that she had converted to his religion. But I don't think that it mattered to them whether it was true or not.

You cannot compare this to the concept of arranged marriages...do u wanna say that in nations whr ppl choose their own solemates , they dont suffer from such problems, you really think so...to your regret i need to tell you that u r wrong ...i saw some news item in which an english women killed both her kids one of 7yrs n 1 of 8 yrs for sum weird reason...that she married the wrong guy n she didnt want her kids..if she can kill em does this mean that love marriages need to be banned...that would not be right...

totally incredible, I can't imagine anyone calling it 'honor' to kill someone, especially a family member. Much much better to simply disown her [I wouldn't do that either]. It is murder, plain and simple and those involved should be tried as such. I find it almost impossible to believe anyone would vidio that, my heart breaks.
