Jeffery Earnhardt & I

Well I met and chatted with Jeffery Earnhardt tonight. (Friday) He is the 17 year old grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt Sr, & nephew of Dale Jr. He drives #1 but due to the fact it was the East and West Busch Grand Nationals the west won out for number one so he had to add a one and become #11. I guess first off the race. In time qualifying Jeffery ran a fast lap of 14.149 for 4th fastest. Just .004 behind the pole sitter. That calculates to 96.440 MPH. It was a 150 lap feature on the 5/8 mile at my home track Elko Speedway. The purse was a whopping $130,000. The top 6 qualifiers were all under 18. In the top 15 there was 10 rookies. A lot of rising stars coming from the NASCAR Busch Grand National. The race started 9 p.m. central time. At lap 2 there was the first caution flown. There were a total of 9 cautions one red flag, and the race finished with a green white flag. Jeffery was involved in an accident on lap 10 getting the front end banged up terribly. He kept running into the pits to repair the damage as the yellow flag flew. At lap 53 there was a bad wreck that caused the red flag to fly for about 30 minutes as they cleared the few cars and debris off the track. Jeffery was making up ground quickly on the leaders. After lap 88 he was back on the lead lap and in 18th place. Then it happened. Lap 145 there was a wreck and Jeffery was involved forcing him out of the race at that time. He was doing a great job. Don’t ask me who won as all I watched was Jeffery. Hahaha. I got to chat with this 17 year old for about 15 minutes also. He is such a kind kid. He really hates all the attention. He told me, “I’m just a kid. It’s the name that’s all. I haven’t done anything big in racing. Yet.” We never talked about racing just life in general. All told I had a wonderful time and loved chatting with a possible future star. I did get a lot of pics including one with Jeffery. I got an autographed card and he also signed my shirt. This race will be aired on the Speed channel on May 30th at 11 a.m. Central time. Thanks for letting me share my excitement here. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I am sure you were very excited about meeting him! It is always nice to meet someone who is humble about his family name and celebrity status. He does come from a long line of drivers. I hope he does well in racing and keeps being humble like he is now. That is great though! Most kids his age would be letting that stuff get to his head. He is made of the right stuff and it was nice that you got to talk to him just about life and get to know him. Great pic to!

Jeffery Earnhardt - Waiting for more fans for the autographs
Yeah he is Kerry's son. Still a student. They even had a 15 year old racing. Can't recall his name. I was also interviewed by Speed Channel as far as local fans drively weekly 75 miles to see the local NASCAR Late Model races and not just the top names like Earnhardt etc. They're not sure if it will be used due to time restrictions but I'm hoping. Hee hee. I'll try to remember to remind you about it. I've already got it programmed on my Direct TV system. Hahaha. Another photo of Jeffery Earnhardt attatched ALSO. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Red Flag - The red flag flies at Elko due to a serious wreck with lots of debris. Missed that shot though.
Nope no injuries and the red flag was due mostly to too much debris right in the middle of the back straightaway. I really had a blast. One of the better races so far this year. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Lol...I am bad at remembering faces of people I just met. But I will look to see if you are on there as well. I think it will be neat to point you out to my husband and tell him we talked on the internet. Thanks for sharing the second picture. I love it.

I had a friend here in my town who got to meet and speak with this wonderful kid too! She said the same thing that you did, that he was so kind and didn't act like he was anything big. I'm glad no one was hurt in the accident. The picture of you and him is wonderful! I'm sure that you will cherish it! One day when he is really famous you can say that 'you knew him when...!"

No! No! NOOOOOOO! You got it all wrong my friend. Hee hee hee. He will say, "I remember Grandpa Bob way back when...." Too funny. Thanks. He's a great kid and he came in 23rd out of 30. Not very good but the luck wasn't with him. He didn't cause any accidents he just happened to be in the wrong places at the wrong times. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for racing Grandpa Bob. I'm glad you had such a fantastic time, and I hope you get to attend more of the races this weekend. It's a lot of fun to get to meet and have photos taken with celebrities. 'Most' of them are just ordinary folks, and very nice to their fans.:)

Speed Channel - They had about 15 cameras total scattered all over including hand held for shots of the crowds and interviews which I was lucky enough to be interviewed.
I ran it through the rinse cycle inside out and then inside a pillow case. I'm careful. Hahaha. Another shot from last night. The cameras from Speed channel filming the event. I'll take a picture of it to post here later. I have a few autographs on it actually. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
