A closer look at the present political system of the Philippines shows a growing number of families holding several elective government positions from the president, the senate, congress and down to the local elective positions. The president has two sons who are now congressmen. She also has a congressman brother -in-law. In the senate, we have two senators who happens to be a mother and son. After the canvassing of the just concluded national election, another tandem of a father and son senators might just be added. And also a brother and sister senators. The list can go on down several pages if we include congress and the elective local positions. There is no denying the fact that this is the beauty of a democratic republic. That anybody, just anybody can run for an elective post, but winning it is another matter. If this can be considered as another trending, then it is not far fetched to see just a handful of families controlling the political future of the Philippines. What do you think, Kabayan?

That is very true the anti-dynasty law is not working in here anymore since they do find flaws with it and found a way to circumvent it. it is sad that not everybody is really given a chance to run for elective position especially if the person is qualified and has know how to run their respective position just so that their incumbent local leader has a clan clinged to the governemnt. And now that elections are over and the lawmakers are somewhat family members only i guess that anti family dynasty law would never be improved anymore since they would avoid such laws to be given the chance to grow and develop.

In actuality, those laws passed which were supposed to be family dynasty deterrent, were sham laws. Those who crafted it designed it in a way to have gaping loopholes, because the crafters themselves are part of the growing family dynasty monster that will soon rule the Philippines.

Ooh, I'm afraid so but it's happening already. There are too many political dynasties in the country now. Isn't it? It has pros and cons, but it's weird.

If not rectified, our country will soon become like other backward countries where the power of governance do not reside in the people but only in a number of families. Our present government instead of finding ways to correct this are instead busying themselves at joining the bandwagon. Look at the president. Two sons just won congressional seats. Even the executive secretary has a son who run for vice governor. Many other in the executive cabinet have sons or daughters even nieces who run for elective posts. So, I think,it will not be far to see the Philippines with a president whose vice president is her husband, with the senate president and the speaker of the house as their son and daughter. Dont you think so?
